Pretty, light-bodied and floral Niagara white wine that's perfect as a chilled aperitif or companion to a light seafood dish. This is Reif's take on the nouveau style wines made famous in the Beaujolais region of France, except this one is made from the Kerner grape. Fresh fresh and vibrant.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This is fun wine, off-dry with with lots of ripe fruit and lychee on the palate. It is a new style from Reif Estate - lovely with paired with spicy dishes.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Not your ordinary white wine! Heady aromas of cantaloupe and cotton candy carry through on the palate. The Kerner Nouveau is a tradition celebrated by winemakers around the world, harvested on September 25 each year, crushed and bottled quickly to represent the first harvest.

For a unique pairing, why not try it with Balderson Double Smoked Cheddar? Balderson cold smokes this cheddar twice using a mixture of natural hard woods. The true smokiness is accentuated by this fruit forward wine. Classic tradition meets flirty fun!
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A delightful, fun, fruity and floral off-dry (slightly sweet) white from the Canadian Niagara River VQA and storied Canadian winemakers at Rief Estate. Great pairing with spicy Asian dishes, Asian Fusion plates, with a light desert or for a festive brunch gathering. Value priced offering a fresh, floral , juicy, smooth and tasty option for off-dry white wine lovers. Rated 87/100.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A slightly off-dry offering of an obscure, but delicious, addition to the nouveau offerings that hit wine shop shelves in mid-November.
A little known fact about Reif is how head winemaker Roberto DiDomenico relishes in experimentation with varietals not traditionally thought of as a Niagara varietal. His plots of Kerner represent an experiment from much earlier in the vineyard's history that was successful enough to continue.
Pale lemon colour, with lots of tropicality. Pineapple, lychee, and tangerine.
Lots of vibrant flavours that you will want to enjoy while the wine is young. Good balance on the sweetness and acidity.
Pair it with buttery popcorn or lemon tilapia.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

What an interesting wine! At first, it smells like a sauvignon blanc but then there are tropical (mango, papaya) notes. Tastes like a reisling. I would pair with dessert! Something with BBQed pineapple or peaches with creamy vanilla ice cream. You could also pair with really spicy takeout.
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Perhaps one of the most interesting wines I've ever tried. Made from the Kerner grape, this very aromatic wine presents itself with aromas of white flower, honeysuckle, mango and passion fruit. Off-dry with flavours of mango, passion fruit and pineapple. This would be a lovely aperitif or pair well with spicy Asian dishes. Tasted November 27, 2016.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Fun and unique, Kerner you say? Nose of candied fruit, lemon drops, ripe melon, burnt sugar/meringue/marshmallow. Very smooth with a creamy mouthfeel and more ripe fruit and candies - medium on the sweetness scale. Sip with dried fruit and cheese after dinner.
Cora Beaulieu rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Pale straw in color with extreme peachy, stone-fruit and tropical fruit aromas. Slightly chemical on the nose. White peach notes on the palate – almost sweet-tartish. Overly sweet and needs food to complement – try with oily, salty or hot spicy foods.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

An unusual blend of aromas tat some might find a bit off-putting, but that will probably grow on you. For me, it's mango, lime, salt, and apricot. The taste is off-fry with medium acidity and a taste of sweet apple and a little tart apricot.
Luc Delorme rated this wine as 82/100 with the following review:

A unique wine with a surprising nose that it sweet and acrid at the same time. Virtually colourless as a white Nouveau would be, the palate is a mix of tropical fruit (some sweet, like pineapple, and some less sweet, like guava) with tongue-tingling acidity. The acid and sugar carry the flavours through the mouth for a rich experience.

This could be served by itself as Nouveau wines sometimes are, but would pair well with rich, spicy dishes such as a hot pepper and peanut curry.
Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 75/100 with the following review:

Presentation: The joker in the deck of cards… It is rather busy and hard to read, though distinctive
Appearance: Very pale lemon colour
Nose: Light intensity aromas of peach!
Taste: Off-dry, medium to full bodied, medium acidity, with sweet fuzzy peach tastes
Finish: Medium finish with peach notes
Overall impression: An acceptable white on the sweet side. If you like sweet wines and peaches, you’ll love this one.
Value: 4/5
