Cave Spring Vineyard

Cave Spring Estate Cave Spring Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

I really enjoyed this wonderful Chardonnay from Cave Spring - the price is an added bonus. The wine is complex and elegant showing flavors of poached apricot, pear, orchard apples, vanilla and butter. Simply wonderful with a lingering creamy finish. Try it with your next grilled pork tenderloin topped with an Ontario pear and apple salsa.

This sparkler is totally fun, a little on the sweeter side it can be used in a sangria or on its own - it definitely checks the box for rockstar packaging - I put it over some ice cubes as the website suggests (cool site, and brand history - cantiwine.com) and added some mint and frozen blueberries from my freezer.

Wildass Rosé 2017

I was quite impressed with this VQA Rosé from Stratus vineyards - the palate is quite fruit forward - orchard apples for days, strawberry, raspberry, clementine, fresh herbs and roasted red pepper. The acidity was quite refreshing with a good balance. The flavors linger - very tasty!

Small Lot

Thirty Bench Wine Makers Small Lot Rosé 2016

Pretty salmon color in the glass - the flavors are wonderful and plentiful showing field strawberry, cranberry, sweet cherry, tangerine, candy apple and pink grapefruit. There is a great acidity and although you can sip on this wine alone it would compliment crostini with smoked salmon, fresh dill and capers.

Another well crafted rosé from Hidden Bench in the Beamsville Bench area of the Niagara Escarpment. This wine is delicate and easy drinking. The bouquet is quite enticing - floral, dried herbs - rosemary comes to mind, strawberry and tangerine. The palate is dry with some notable acidity - it would be divine with a ham and cheese panini.
