Julien Miquel

After a 10-year winemaking career that led me to make high-end wines around the world, I decided in 2009 that my expertise should not only be available to the people physically tasting the wines I’d made, but be spread over to the wider worldwide wine community.

I therefore joined the world leading wine website Wine-Searcher.com and led the development of their online content for 6 years placing it as the uncontested world’s most-visited wine website.

Today, I am making my expertise in online content available through my latest project: the Social Vignerons website, but also through our range of services.

For industry players willing to improve their online and social media strategy, I also provide advice and consultancy through an Online & Social Media Reputation Enhancement Program.

Influencer – Blogger – Wine Critic

Over the years, I have gathered a loyal audience of over 400K passionate and authentic wine, beer, and spirits lovers placing me amongst the Top 20 Wine Influencers around the world.

I started working on Social Vignerons mid-2014 and launched it in December that year. Six months later it was voted 2015 Best New Wine Blog by the Wine Blogs Awards.

Social Vignerons is a website/blog that aims at being a platform for talents of all forms in the wine and alcoholic beverages community. A web-based “The world of wine’s got Talent”. We produce content highlighting and explaining the wonders in the world of wine: infographics, interviews, wine & food pairings, general wine knowledge topics. Find more info on About Us.

As an experienced wine taster, I also review and rate wines to guide readers in their purchase.

International Wine Expert – Winemaker

Nature and biological science fanatic as a youngster, back home in France I felt in a jar of fine wine and never came out.

One can only learn what wine is REALLY all about by making a few good examples himself, so I did just that…

I learnt Winemaking in the heart of the Bordeaux Tradition: the Faculté d’Oenologie. My professors and mentors were men involved in the elaboration of some of the world’s finest and most renowned wines of Médoc, Saint-Emilion, and Pomerol. A flying winemaker’s career followed bringing me from Chateau Margaux to Kangaroo Island (South Australia), through Sonoma County, Ribera del Duero, Tuscany, Margaret River or Toro (Spain). Understanding people, places and vines, and how their combined languages translate into their wines was my lynchpin. I found my inspiration in the steps of Bordeaux winemakers Michel Rolland, Denis Dubourdieu or Jacques Lurton. Through that period, I developed a highly-technical tasting palate (probably too technical really for everyday tasting and drinking, but sharp!). More importantly, I acquired a thorough understanding, insider’s knowledge, and empathy for the life of Vignerons: their hard work, their passion, their generosity, their product: wine…

In 2014, after years of studies to further embrace the complexity of the world of wines and spirits, I was awarded the highest qualification by the Wine & Spirits Education Trust: the WSET Diploma. International qualification acknowledging many years of hard work and passion for all the wines in the world.
