On Sunday, Canada’s top wine writers and sommeliers gathered in our nation’s capital to review 86 wines.
However, it wasn’t the usual group of wines… many are just coming on to the market or will be launched in the new year. So it was exciting for our team to try them and post the first reviews for these wines in this market.

The tasting took place from 1 to 6 pm so various groups of writers came and went at different times throughout the day.

Elegance in a bottle!
This is an old vine blend of Carignane (70%) and Grenache (30%) from Priorat, Spain.
The price may seem high but if you see what goes into making this gorgeous wine it makes it seem like a steal. Grown on steep vineyards the grapes are handpicked and then sorted berry by berry and then transferred by gravity to tanks for fermentation. Ferrer Bobet practices strict organic viticulture with no insecticides, fungicides and herbicides.
I’m not sure I’d pair this wine with anything – it was delicious all on it’s own!
