Miradoro Restaurant at Tinhorn Creek Now Open with Tasty Food and Wine Pairings

After years of anticipation and planning, Tinhorn Creek Vineyards opened

a new restaurant at the winery on April 1

The restaurant, aptly named Miradoro, roughly translates to “Golden View” in Portuguese.  This originates from Miradoro restaurant partner Manuel Ferreira’s (of famed Vancouver’s Le Gavroche) Portuguese background.  Miradoro will serve market cuisine in a relaxed fine dining atmosphere.  It seats 65 people inside with a 65-seat patio offering superb views of the scenic South Okanagan Valley. Ferreira has secured two exceptional individuals to run the restaurant whose knowledge and experience will make Miradoro a destination restaurant for tourists and locals alike.

Behind the menu is Executive Chef, Jeff Van Geest.  His background includes some of Vancouver’s finest restaurants (Bishops, Diva at the Met, Chef Bernard’s Cafe) and his own restaurant, Aurora Bistro. Van Geest will be an excellent fit with Tinhorn Creek’s focus on sustainability, winning Vancouver Magazine’s Green Award for demonstrating leadership in sustainability.

Justin McAuliffe, Miradoro’s General Manager and Sommelier, has worked in the wine industry for 15 years at some of the top restaurants in Toronto (Centro, Canoe) and Vancouver (C Restaurant). McAuliffe is certified by the International Sommeliers Guild (ISG) and the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET). Another great fit with Tinhorn Creek’s sustainability philosophy, Justin has endorsed the sustainable culinary philosophy at C Restaurant.

Miradoro features panoramic views of the scenic South Okanagan Valley and overlooks many of the producers and farmers that supply ingredients used on the menu.  The market cuisine menu has a Mediterranean influence, drawing inspiration from countries like Italy, Spain and Portugal – countries that know a thing or two about food and wine pairing. The food at Miradoro is rustic, simple, straightforward, and places emphasis on the seasons. The wine list features Tinhorn Creek wines, both current and library offerings, but also includes selections from other great BC wineries.

Miradoro is not only a world-class destination restaurant for wine tourists, but is somewhere to go for a pizza and glass of wine after work, or a casual lunch on the patio.

Miradoro is open March 1st through December 31st from 11:30am to 9pm.
