Red Wine

J. Lohr Highlands Bench Pinot Noir 2013, Santa Lucia Highlands, California, United States: Not nearly as sweet as I expected given the usual style of this winery. The oak isn't heavy either, which is nice. This medium-bodied Pinot Noir offers aromas of ripe cherry and smoke. It's supple and smooth. Pair with veal. Pinot Noir food pairings: grilled lamb chops, grilled New York strip loin, hard cheese, braised pork shanks, veal chops. Drink: 2018 - 2022 551572 14.7% XD 750 mL $54.95 Score: 89/100. October 2018. Full Review Add to Shopping Cart

White Wine

Covela Edição Nacional Avesso 2015, Vinho Verde, Portugal: A vibrant, lovely, 2015 vintage made from the Avesso grapes from vines planted in granitic soils overlooking the Douro River at the southeastern limit of the Vinhos Verde region. The Covela Edição Nacional has terrific minerality and racy acidity for shellfish. Food pairings: pan-fried panfish, grilled chicken, seafood stew. Drink: 2017 - 2019 524868 12.5% XD 750 mL $17.95 Score: 91/100. October 2018. Best Value White Wine Full Review Add to Shopping Cart
