A vibrant, lovely, 2015 vintage made from the Avesso grapes from vines planted in granitic soils overlooking the Douro River at the southeastern limit of the Vinhos Verde region. The Covela Edição Nacional has terrific minerality and racy acidity for shellfish.

Food pairings: pan-fried panfish, grilled chicken, seafood stew.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is made from the Avesso grape. Unique to Portugal. Pale lemon-green colour. How glorious are the smells in this!? Bright, fresh, mouthwatering citrus; grapefruit and lime zest with fresh chive and , white flowers and stoney minerals. Flavours deliver fresh green apple, white grapefruit zing and a delicate finish with asian pears, yellow bell peppers and a touch of peppermint heat at the end. Fresh and light. Perfect to pair with seared scallops, garlic shrimp and herbal soft creamy cheeses. Outstanding example of Avesso. Drink now - 90 points. tasted January 2018
The Avesso wine grapes for this wine are organically grown. This wine is pale straw in the glass with a citrus and ripe white peach and nectarine nose. Nice herbal notes with light stonefruit and lemon zest flavours on the palate. Drink now to appreciate its freshness. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
