A juicy, smoky, full-bodied Italian red wine made from Sicily's classic grape Nero d'Avola. The wine's name, Gazzerotta, is a nod to the black-and-white magpies that fly over the vineyards. Black cherry and spice on the finish. Pair with meat lover's pizza.

Nero D'avola food pairings: grilled meats, meat pasta, smoked meats.

Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted June 16th, 2018. Colour dark ruby red. Legs medium. Aromas and flavours of black plum, blackberry, blueberry, cocoa. Taste dry plus, full bodied, grippy tannin, mouthwatering. Finish black fruit medium plus. A wine with a lot of rustic flavour and great price for value. I would buy again and pair it with a hearty pasta of tomato sauce, olives and Italian sausage with Sicilian Pecorino cheese. I like these wines with the Nero D’Avola grape. Very affordable.
Pellegrino Gazzerotta 2014 is a great value under $20 Nero D'avola from Sicily. Produced by Carlo Pellegrino, the name of this wine (Gazzerotta) is in reference to the black and white magpies that come to visit fields and vineyards in the autumn. This wine is very approachable now with ripe plum and light herb flavours on the palate. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
