Puklus Pincészet Tokaji Yellow Muscat 2013, Tokaj-Hegyalja, Hungary: Beautiful concentration of lemon essence! Here's a dessert wine that's not cloying sweet, and will be perfect with lemon or poppy seed cake. Oh yum. Muscat grapes thrive in clay and volcanic, which brings out the floral essence in them and the finished wine, especially in dessert styles. The rolling hills of north-eastern Hungary provide excellent drainage for the vines planted on their slopes. Yellow Muscat food pairings: lemon cake, poppy seed cake, smoked paprika chicken. Cave Spring Cellars Indian Summer Select Late Harvest Riesling 2013, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: Liquid gorgeous year after year, Cave Spring delivers this late harvest Riesling for our drinking pleasure. Apricot peach blossom. Perfect for angel food cake and fruit-based desserts. The Riesling grapes for this dessert wine are picked later in the fall, well after those from the dry style table wine. A savoury and rich Californian Cabernet with aromas of cedar brush, dried herbs and cassis. There is a splash of Merlot in this wine. 14 Hands Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Columbia Valley, Washington, United States: The horses on the label are a tribute to the wild horses that once roamed the Hose Heaven Hills wine region. They were approximately 14 hands tall: small but sturdy and strong, known for their unbridled strength and freedom. Aromas of coffee, mocha and spice as well as fleshy blackberry. The wine is aged in American oak barrels for 14 months and that that provide a succulently rich/sweet frame and carry the tannins to an excellent place of balance. The wine is very approachable. This southern French rosé is made from Grenache Noir and Grenache Gris grapes, thus Gris Blanc (grey-white) are hand-picked in the Roussillon region located in Tautavel between the Mediterranean sea and the Pyrenees mountains. The wine is matured on the fine lees for several weeks before bottling. Lovely mouth-watering acidity for fresh seafood salads. Domaine Chandon Blanc De Noirs Sparkling Wine, California, United States: This Californian sparkling wine producer is owned by one of Champagne's most revered wineries, Moët & Chandon, the same house that makes top-of-the-line Dom Pérignon. Chandon is actually no newcomer to the scene having been founded in the 1970s, and the first winery to make sparkling wine using the traditional Champagne method (Méthode Traditionelle).
