This is a tart Italian red wine blend of Sangiovese, Rubesco and Colorino grapes. Aromas of sour cherry, with lots of acidity and tannin on the palate. Blackened earth, charry oak. Perfect for a tangy, acidic tomato sauce best served in a rustic Italian taverna. This rustic Italian red wine has a deep hue in the glass.

Sangiovese Colorino food pairings: rich tomato and roasted Italian vegetables sauce over penne, beef stuffed tomatoes and peppers.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A full-bodied rustic Sangiovese, Rubesco and Colorino blend. Ripe red berry fruit, dates, floral notes, sweet anise and cardamom spice dominate the aromas. The palate is showing chewy developing tannins, incredibly juicy acidity, red fruit and spice flavours. The finish is long and grippy with lasting notes of ripe cherry. Enjoy with Pasta Bolognese. Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is an Umbrian blend of the traditional grapes of Chianti: Sangiovese and Colorino (there is Canaiolo in their Rosso do Torgiano, but not this cuvee).
This wine is fermented in stainless steel and then matured further in barrels for a year.
It has a nice ruby colour, with some purple hues.
Aromas of sour cherry, plum, dried herbs, earth, licorice, and some toastiness.
It is fresher and more lively than their Torgiano (the Vigna Monticchio).
It is medium bodied, juicy, and easygoing. Lots more red and black plum, cherries, brown spices lead a savoury edge that is more perceptible after a few sips.
A tasty wine for barbecue fair. Well made.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

(The first bottle tried was corked). There's lots of wood, smoke, cherry, dried herb and spice in this food-friendly, Umbrian beauty. Don't expect to be blown away, but this wine packs terrific punch and is extremely pure. 89 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
From Umbria Lungarotti Rubesco (2013) is very tart, acidic and tannic: sour cherry notes with black earth. Perfect for a tangy, acidic tomato sauce best served in a rustic Italian taverna with Mamma coaxing you to eat more ... You are too thin! This rustic Italian red wine is a blend of Sangiovese, Canailo and Colorino grapes. Lots of minerality and earthy notes. - Community Wine Reviews
