Natalie's Score: 92/100

A complex, sophisticated, concentrated and delicious California red wine that's mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes that are planted up to 2,000 feet above sea level. The elevation and poor soils stress the vines, which creates Mount Veeder 'signature depth and intensity of flavour. Polished tannins and a long finish. Pair with grilled meats.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: bbq beef ribs, grilled lamb, sausage and chick pea casserole.

Reviews and Ratings

This Cabernet Sauvignon from Mount Veeder, Napa Valley is from The Hess Collection (2012) and is a red wine blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Malbec. It needs time in cellar, but this wine has enough blueberry fruit, ripe blackberries, tobacco and black currant notes matched by some grippy tannins and zesty acidity. In three to five years this powerful Cab Sauv will be more approachable and more mature. - Community Wine Reviews
