Open Riesling Gewürztraminer

Niagara Peninsula, Ontario: This is an incredible wine for the price point! Joyous notes of peach, peach and lychee. The gewurztraminer really comes through in this blend. Pair with: honey glazed BBQ chicken, Asian fusion, fresh salads, and a variety of soft, mild cheeses. Drink: 2012-2014.  988092  11.50%  MD  750 mL  $11.95  Score: 88/100.

Open Sauvignon Blanc

Niagara Peninsula, Ontario: A lovely, subtly flavoured Sauvignon Blanc with white melon and lime notes. Not grassy and there’s no aggressive acidity here. Very pleasant aperitif. Top me up! Pair with: grilled seafood, quiche. Drink: 2009-2013.  178681  11.90%  D  750 mL  $11.95  Score: 87/100.

Open Rose

Niagara Peninsula, Ontario: A delightful rose with a field of fresh strawberries and raspberries wafting up from the glass. So pretty! Medium-bodied. A real crowd pleaser, though you should also drink it on your own on the patio or deck: it pairs perfectly with that novel you’ve been wanting to read. Pair with: light goat cheese, salad, sushi. Drink: 2009-2012.  175349  11.30%  D  750 mL  $10.95  Score: 87/100.

Open Cab2-Merlot

Niagara Peninsula, Ontario: A mouth-filling red with layers of fleshy blackberries, blackcurrant and a lick of vanilla spice. This full-bodied number delivers lots of hedonistic pleasure for those who enjoy instant gratification. (Translation: You don’t need to cellar this bottle!) The price is amazing for such a well-made wine. Perfect for potluck gatherings, book clubs and evenings when you want to wear your faded jeans. Pair with: pepper steak, lamb with rosemary, tacos, fajitas. Drink: 2012-2014.  134957  12%    750 mL  $10.95  Score: 88/100.

Open Vidal Icewine

Niagara Peninsula, Ontario: Superb! Apricot and honey with an underlay of rich butterscotch. Perfect with dessert or as dessert on its own. Half the price of most icewines. Drink: 2011-2018.  149799  9.50%  S  375 mL  $29.95  Score: 91/100.
