A savoury, juicy, full-bodied Italian red wine made from the Sangiovese grape. Aromas of black plums, smoke, mocha and dark berries. Terrific balancing acidity for hearty meat dishes or a tangy tomato sauce.

Chianti Classico food pairings: game roasts, meaty lasagnes, meat-lover's pizza, Bistecca Florentine.

Reviews and Ratings

Cherie Cole rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The aromas and flavours of red cherry, dark chocolate and cranberry of this wine are well incorporated with a mouthwatering acidity and medium tannins. Pair with traditional Italian tomato sauce dishes. Tasted July 15, 2018.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Aromas of blackberry, plum cedar, smoke, warm spices. Medium bodied, medium + acidity, and vibrant and tart fruit on the palate. Nicely balanced. Enjoy with a meat pizza or bolognese sauce.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Blackcurrant and blueberry aromas on the nose , as well as cinnamon, cedar, and milk chocolate.

On the palate, there are flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant, cinnamon, floral notes, and a cocoa finish. It has great acidity, tannins that are medium plus, and slight bitter finish. It is medium bodied and nicely balanced. Yummy!

Tasted July 2018
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A delightful classic Chianti Classico from Frescobaldi Tenuta Perano. Medium red colour with a glistening ruby hue. The bouquet reveals raspberries, dried herbs, graphite minerals, and spices. Flavours reflect sour cherries, tart raspberries, anise, spices, granite, and pine needle touches. Acidity is high alongside the tomato crisp finish and elevated velvety tannins. A very fine example paired with sundried tomato pizza. 88 points
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Ruby in colour with aromas of plum, black cherry and smoke. It is full bodied with well balanced acidity and tannins with a long tart cherry finish. It has flavours of black cherry, plum and black pepper. This will pair nicely with tomato based pasta dishes. Tasted on July 15, 2018.
Simon Chen rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

I find the wine a bit disjointed that it has very rich plum fruits on the initial palate but finishes with very tart and stringent acid.
Produced by Frescobaldi, from the Tuscany wine region, Tenuta Perano 2015 Chianti Classico is a fresh and mouth-watering Sangiovese (with a smattering of some local varieties) with bright blackberry, ripe raspberry, cherry, wild herb, dried tobacco leaf, mint, nut and pepper spice flavours on the palate. Decant for two hours prior to pouring with meaty stews and lasagnes. - Community Wine Reviews
