Melanie scored this wine: 89/100

This rich ruby coloured Red has sweet aromas of black cherries and plum, with violet, menthol, cinnamon, cocoa, and a hint of smoke. On the palate, it has tart plum flavours with cinnamon, milk chocolate, and a touch of oak. It is full-bodied with tannins that are well integrated and a nice long finish. Tasted January 2019. WINE-FOOD PAIRING: I paired this wine with roast beef in a peppered dry rub served with roasted potatoes and bell peppers. It was an excellent pairing.

Melanie scored this wine: 90/100

A ruby coloured Red with aromas of plum, blackberry, menthol, eucalyptus, anise, fennel, sweet spice, cedar, black olive, and hints of milk chocolate. On the palate, it has tart plum and blackberry flavours with a touch of sweet spice and cedar and a slightly bitter finish. It is medium-bodied with gentle tannins and bright acidity. Overall, an easy drinking type of wine. Tasted January 2019 Wine-Food Pairing: I paired mine with homemade pizza topped with Italian dried sausage, red pepper, and sharp cheese. It paired wonderfully. This wine would also pair nicely with prosciutto, dried sausage, pasta in a meat sauce, creamy cheeses, or with sharp Italian cheeses.

On the nose, this full-bodied Red has aromas of ripe blueberry and jammy cassis spread, with notes of menthol, cinnamon, violet, potpourri, cocoa, and hints of black pepper and vanilla. With flavours of cassis, plum, cinnamon, floral notes and cocoa, it has fresh acidity and velvety tannins that are well incorporated. At the finish there is a touch of oak and black pepper. A nice Californian wine! Tasted November 2018 Wine-Food Pairing: I paired this with roast beef and potatoes. It was delicious!

Melanie scored this wine: 89/100

A medium-bodied Cab Franc with aromas of ripe srawberry, lilac, earthy beets, sweet spice, and herbal notes. It is also nicely rustic with a subtle hay barn quality. In terms of flavour, there is tart plum and chocolate with faint floral notes seeping through. It has wonderful acidity and the tannins are well integrated. The flavours linger. Wine-Food Pairing: Roasted duck or lamb.

What a treat! This Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley has aromas of ripe raspberry, plum, violet, chocolate, cinnamon, black pepper and hints of vanilla bean. It is full-bodied, has smooth tannins, and fresh acidity on the palate with flavours of tart plum, juicy raspberry, subtle cedar and chocolate at the finish. Wine-Food Pairing: A pepper steak covered in mushroom sauce would be yummy with this wine. Tasted October 2018 at the Vina San Pedro wine tasting event.

Unusual Wine Experience

Retsina, the greek white wine that smells and tastes like pine.

Current Fav Wine

I love the tartness often associated with cool climate wines. Currently, I am loving Ontario wines, especially Pinot Noir and dry Riesling. I have a soft spot for Italian wine. I also love a wide range of sparkling wines, especially those made using the Champenoise method.
