L.A. Cetto Petite Sirah 2020

Guadalupe Valley, Baja California, Mexico

Colin scored this wine: 88/100

It is not often in Ontario that you find a wine from Mexico but fortunately I was able to pick up a bottle with the latest vintages release. This Petite Sirah is deep purple in colour with aromas of plum, blackberry, smoke, vanilla and black pepper. It is full bodied with medium acidity and medium-high tannins. On the palate you get flavours of plum, black pepper and blackberry with a medium dark fruit finish. The flavours are enhanced if the wine is chilled as recommended. This will pair well with grilled red meat dishes. A great value wine at $15. Tasted on January 13, 2024.

Straw in colour with aromas of lychee, peaches, melon, rose and minerality. It is slightly off-dry, medium bodied with well balanced acidity and has flavours of peaches and melon on the palate. This will pair nicely with spicy dishes, Asian dishes as well as pork or chicken. A great qualify wine especially for the price. Tasted on May 20, 2023.

Medium garnet in colour with aromas of raspberry, plum, back olives, all spice and tobacco. It is medium bodied with grippy tannins and mouth-watering acidity. On the palate you get flavours of stewed red berries, dried herbs and spices. This will pair well with strong cheese, cheesy pasta dishes, and red meats. An excellent bargain value. Tasted on February 5, 2023.

Unusual Wine Experience

Not a single experience but going back and trying wines I previously hated only to discover they were really good. I have discovered a lot of wine I love by giving them a second chance.
