The Organized Crime Break-In Pinot Noir 2016

Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada
152 days ago

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 88/100

A luminous Pinot Noir from The Organized Crime Winery @organizedcrimew Notes of red fruit - raspberry, anise and wine dipped cigars. Flavours show vanilla dusted plums, strawberry shortcake and an element of earthy forest. Acidity is vivid with a medium body and a delicate finish. Tannins linger momentarily to complement both the fruit and the spice notes. This would be a suitable accompaniment to grilled rainbow trout. 88 points

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 90/100

An engaging Canadian sparkling wine from Niagara-on-the-Lake with many citrus and traditional brioche notes that dance on the on the nose - very reminiscent to Champagne. Crisp with medium buoyant bubbles. Flavours show apple, pear fruit with a light and juicy finish with hints of minerals. Dry and well made in the traditional method from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Outstanding value. A welcome refreshment for a celebration or to pair with light canapes. 90 points - tasted July 2019

Robert Mondavi Chardonnay 2015

Napa Valley, California, United States

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 90/100

This Chardonnay from Mondavi hits all the right notes if you’re in the mood for California Chardonnay. Pale gold with a splash of a green rim. Aromas of smoke, baked pears, butter tarts, raisins, and vanilla. Flavours reveal peach cobbler, cantaloupe melon, with a hint of pineapple at the back. Toasty and oaky. Full bodied, retaining smoke with a mineral driven, lengthly finish accompanied by a firm handshake of acidity. Pair with smoked salmon canapes. 90 points - tasted July 2019

Vasse Felix Filius Chardonnay 2017

Margaret River, Australia

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 91/100

oh wow, nice! Silvery lemon coloured. Elements of grapefruit, lemon zest, white flowers and a hint of lemongrass. Flavours show green apples, white grapefruit, lip smacking and mouthwatering. Hints of sugar snap peas. Vivacious acidity, with a light body and finish. It’s quite crisp, the oak is so subtle that it could pass as an unoaked version. Pair with summer salads and white fish. 91 points - tasted July 2019

Nautilus Chardonnay 2017

Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 92/100

This French Oak barrel fermented, Chardonnay is from Marlborough’s Nautilus Estate Winery. Initially it has an appealing bouquet that grabbed my attention right away. Evolving with grilled pineapple, passion fruit, toasted hazelnuts, apple blossoms, flint rocks and fresh vanilla. There’s a lees-driven lingering aromas that is becoming. Flavours reveal yellow plums, starfruit, apple crumble and baked pie crust with an oily mouthfeel. Acidity is brisk and well balanced against the medium body. Full and flavourful without being overly “buttery”. This will accompany a bevy of dishes. Something like Flat crust white sauce Bechamel chicken pizza would be divine. 92 points - tasted July 2019
