Valley Of The Moon Pinot Blanc Viognier 2015

Sonoma County, California, United States

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 88/100

A delectable blended white wine from Valley of the Moon consisting of 15% Pinot Blanc and %15 Viognier. Aromas are both fragrant and floral with peach, honeydew and scallion herbaceous notes. The flavours are perky, showing yellow apples and loads of grapefruit citrus. Green peppers also arrive to the party, with a chalky stony chewy finish and lingering pithiness. Dry with a touch of lingering fruity herbal sweetness at the back. Pair this with walnut crusted goats cheese or balsamic glazed pork. 88 points - tasted September 2018

Reserva

Luigi Bosca Reserva Chardonnay 2017

Luján De Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 90/100

A delightfully delicate Chardonnay from a solid Argentinian producer, Luigi Bosca. Apple driven aromatics play on the nose with glistening citrus and freshly picked green pears. There's also a lingering spice - bringing to mind saffron and sprig of jasmine. On the tongue, the flavours meld together intrinsically with grapefruit, starfruit, nectarine skins, stony minerals and white pepper that lingers on the tongue carrying into the (M+) finish. Acidity is spirited and refreshing. Dry, well balanced and well suited for many foods. Try this with grilled octopus or veggie shish kebabs. 90 points - tasted September 2018

Screaming Frenzy

The Hatch Screaming Frenzy Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia V.Q.A., Canada
5 days ago

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 90/100

A fresh, vivacious Sauvignon Blanc by The Hatch. This Screaming Frenzy certainly lives up to its name with spirited notes of flinty passionfruit, pink grapefruit, and perfumed white peonies. Typical green notes of asparagus or grassy cat’s pee aren’t found here - instead there’s a keen, distinct element of fresh chives and basil leaves peeking out. Flavours impart luscious Granny Smith apples, flinty passionfruit and creamy guava notes at the back with a dynamic pomelo citrus medium finish. Acidity is refined and perfectly proportioned with a heavier body and a decadent oily mouthfeel is offered leaving it fuller and adding more weight. This will accompany a variety of foods or on its own. Try a pairing with a marinated seafood salad or herbed chicken. This would also be a fine match for veggie burgers. 90 points - tasted September 2018 @HatchWines

Old Vine Estate

1853 Old Vine Estate Malbec 2014

Mendoza, Argentina

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 91/100

I had a challenging time getting my nose out of the glass! Loved this - An aromatic evolution! Deeply mauve coloured with an appealing and inviting bouquet - dark plum, blackberry, fresh tobacco, light cocoa and a gorgeous, layered perfume of rose petals with a hint of toasted coconut peek-a-booing in the background. Flavours were as equally engaging with black cherry, prune and sweet smoke heat. Vivacious medium acidity is ideally integrated with a plush medium body and matching smooth tannins. Very well structured and ready to drink now. A very good example of Malbec. This will pair nicely with a Montecristo #1 to accompany the floral notes and aged cheeses. 91 points - team tasting September 16, 2018

Longshot Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

California, United Sates

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 88/100

The Ultimate Longshot - organically grown Estate grapes. Living up to its name with an abundance of fruity gusto. Deep and rich with dark plum, black cherry, cedar wood, and rich vanilla extract with a hint of milk chocolate nuances lingering in the bouquet. Flavours are full and juicy showing prunes, figs and cassis. Ripe and plummy with a full body and finish. Tannins are medium plus - much of them coming from the oak ageing. Fruit loaded and jam packed with lingering sweetness at the end. A stellar meatloaf and burger wine. Take a longshot and hit on point with this catchy Cali Cab. 88 points - Tasted September 2018
