Clare Valley Mclaren Vale, South Australia, Australia

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 92/100

Dark plum and dark chocolate shine with finely ground pepper on the nose on this southern Australia Shiraz. Steeped cherry flavours follow through in the mouth. Medium bodied with a touch of mouthwatering lingering heat on the tongue. Bright and well polished. Try with beef brisket and traditional barbequed fare. - tasted September 2025

Woo Woo

Dirty Laundry Vineyard Woo Woo Gewürztraminer 2015

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia BC V.Q.A., Canada

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 90/100

Pale lemon straw colour with a greenish tint and medium tears. This had a brilliant bouquet, not typical gewurz ; peach, apricot, pink grapefruit, ginger, orange blossom, lemon, pear, rose and white pepper. In the mouth, a little different. The peaches turn tart - like an underipe nectarine, with McIntosh apple, ripe tart citrus with generous mineral tones. Chalky and flinty. Some heat here with a peppery finish! Off dry (9g/L) Not the typical aromatics of lychee and flowers. Different and delightful. Pair with curry fusion dishes. - tasted March 2017

A Sardinian Grenache with aromas of blackberry, cherry, earthy mushroom, soft milk chocolate and suede leather. On the palate, red cherry stem, ripe blueberry and a lingering hint of marshmallow and chocolate with touches of earthy compost and wet leaves. Medium plus acidity and body with lively jalapeno spice on the full finish. Well balanced. Pair with braised beef stew and wild boar. - tasted June 2017

Spy Valley Pinot Noir 2013

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 89/100

This is a fresh and fruity Pinot Noir from the South lsland region in Marlborough. A pretty pale ruby colour and lots of polished red fruit on the nose. Cherry, strawberry, raspberry, licorice and a touch of earth. On the palate, tart-chewy cherries, smoke, light pepper and strawberry freshness. Baking spice, vanilla and a hint of raspberry and anise carrying into the finish. Medium acidity with a light body and tannins. Nicely balanced. Will accompany mandarin beef, mushrooms and rice noodle dishes nicely.

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 88/100

A pretty pale ruby colour with cherry, ripe red fruit, earthy dust and a funky old leather couch and a touch of vanilla cola. Herbal notes also come through on the tongue with chewy light tannins on the light bodied finish. Medium acidity and very well balanced. Very vibrant with an abundance of red fruit. Enjoy with light cheeses and charcuterie.
