Alazanis Valley Off Dry

United Stars Alazanis Valley Off Dry 2018

Alazanis Valley, Kakheti, Georgia
14 hours, 34 minutes ago

Andrea Shapiro reviewed this wine:

Made from the Saperavi grape, grown in the Alazani Valley of Kakheti, Georgia. This region has a warmer climate and thereby bestows the grapes with added, delectable sweetness which is intently reflected in this wine. Shimmering ruby coloured in the glass with garnet tones throughout. Intriguing elements of dark cherries, blossoms and spicy, earthy, fig and plum chutney notes. Fine and flavourful with a splash of blood orange citrus lingering into the finish. A fine pairing with soft cheeses, and light desserts, or on its own as an after dinner sipper.

United Stars Mukuzani Dry 2015

Kakheti Pdo, Georgia

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 89/100

The locally grown Saperavi grape, originated in the Kakheti region of Georgia, and is itself, quite unique. The fleshy part of this grape contains a rich, vibrant red colour. This well priced, Georgian wine made by Koncho Winery and produced by United Stars is a deep ruby colour with dynamic aromas of black cherries, dark plums, chocolate and a hint of earthy truffles. Flavours show cooked strawberries and red fruit, alongside elements of stony salty minerals and smoky heat lingering tastefully into the back. Acidity balances brightly against silky, demure tannins and a well balanced, dry, medium body. This will drink well on its own or as an accompaniment to barbecued pork, lamb or steak. Enjoy!

Made from the Saperavi grape, from Koncho Winery located in the Kakheti region of Georgia and produced by United Stars. A delectably dry, ruby coloured red wine with a glistening purple hue. Dark and plummy with spicy, earthy undertones. Well balanced with a clean finish, this will pair nicely with herbed grilled pork and root vegetables. A spectacular value $14.95 466458 for this old world gem! Enjoy.

Medium ruby coloured with aromas of cherry berries, strawberry pie and earthy sweet smoke. Flavours are light and clean, showing blueberries, red plum and a touch of lip smacking sour cherry. Easy drinking and not overly complex. Dry, bright and well balanced. A light, clean cabernet style that’s simple, wrapped in subtle tannins. Spectacular value $11.95! This will pair nicely with a park picnic lunch, or a nature driven camping trip. Enjoy!

Creekside Rosé 2017

Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada

Andrea Shapiro scored this wine: 89/100

Rosé all the way - from Creekside winery. Located in the Niagara Peninsula and made from 100% Syrah grapes. Aromas are fruity and floral with red berry filling, watermelon, white peach and cherry. Flavours show a blend of fruit salad, mandarin oranges and honey with some pink grapefruit citrus on the tongue. Acidity is bright and berry-filled with a balanced body. Although this Rose is deeply coloured, not to be mistaken for sweetness. It’s a dry 5g/L and still quite crisp. For fun, add a little sparkling water and this also makes a nice wine spritzer. Suitable to pair with many foods, from tacos to tuna ceviche or simply on its own. Enjoy! Tasted August 2020
