Truffle Hunt in Provence Getaway with Truffle Recipes and Wine Pairings Guided by Sherry Page

With autumn swiftly approaching, it’s time to finalize plans for one of our very favorite wintertime events – our Truffle Getaway in Provence. It is coming up on January 29th-February 4th, 2012.  This event focuses on the king of truffles – the fragrant black melanosporum truffles that are found in the Provence region of France between mid-November and mid-February. I love the flavor of these incredible melanosporum truffles, but one of the best parts of the week is the truffle hunt with a local farmer and his dogs.  It is really fun to tag along and watch the hunt take place.  […]

Summer is upon us and it is a great time to visit wine country!

Steven and Chris with winemaker Roberto Steven and Chris stopped by Reif Estate Winery last week to check out the new plantings of Pinot Grigio that are being cultivated for a future bottling of their white wine. The Trend Chardonnay-Pinot Grigio is a wonderful blend as the Chardonnay offers apple, lemon and pineapple notes while the Pinot Grigio provides a fresh acidity and minerality that is most refreshing on a hot summer day. After touring the vineyard Steven and Chris made a stop in the wine sensory garden to enjoy an artisan cheese plate and local charcuterie with our Reif […]

Wine Festivals for the Seasons

By Michael Fagin Fall colors and the wine harvest, spring flowers in wine country, or soaking in the summer sun, food, wine and the beach. These were the hard choices that my wife and I had to ponder when Tourism Kelowna invited us to attend one of their seasonal wine festivals. We made the decision to go to the fall festival and were very pleased with so much to do between the 110 wineries that participated, the winemaker’s diners, as well as wine and cheese tasting events. And let us not forgot one of our favorites, pairing chocolates and wines. […]

Paris: City of Light, Food & Wine

My family and I had a terrific week in Paris recently! So many great restaurants, wines and food. Some of my favourite restaurants included Guy Savoy, Taillevant and Dominque Bouchet. One of the highlights was a cooking class with cookbook author Charlotte Pluckett and former chef and tour guide Richard Nahem. Richard’s done a great job of describing the class, so why reinvent the wheel? You can read his blog post here. Cheers, Natalie
