Another terrific off-dry Vineland Riesling from the 2015 vintage. Aromas of lime and lemon zest with a deep core of minerality. Pair with fresh halibut in a beurre blanc sauce.

Riesling food pairings: salad, mild curries, Thai coconut shrimp.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This installment brings the superb craftsmanship I've come to count on from Brian Schmidt. Each vintage brings lots of Niagara love from the stony minerality to the sweet Spring blossoms of fruit trees. Wrap that in bold acidity and some varietal quality petrol and you've got a beautiful expression of Niagara Escarpment Riesling. Ontario Riesling doesn't get much finer than this and it hits that magical sub-$20 price point. Cheers! Bring on English Fish and Chips.

One of my favourite Rieslings from Ontario. Scratch that, the world!

Pale lemon, with a silver hue.
Lime cordial, wet stone, peach, cut rubber hose. Yummy, spritzy, and rich. She's a beaut!

Swoon!! I so love riesling and this is one of the penultimate Ontario offerings from a very well-known vineyard. Juicy lime zest, meyer lemon, honeyed nuances, ripe pear, off-dry and boom - that amazing acidity. #love.
Cherie Cole rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A beautiful marriage of feminine floral notes, fresh peach and wet stone on the nose. With bright acidity, this wine lingers in your mouth with a long, stone fruit and mineral finish. Enjoy with spicy shrimp. Tasted March 2017.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I'm a fan of the wines from Vineland and winemaker Brian Schmidt so I was not surprised that I loved this Riesling! According to their website Brian stated "This could be the best Elevation Riesling vintage to date. I love it!" and I couldn't agree more.
Layers of aromas and flavours; lemon, lime, mineral, apple and pear. It starts out with a touch of sweetness and soft mouthfeel but then the acidity cuts in and leaves your mouth watering. A long lingering citrus finish. For this tasting I paired it with some smoked blue cheese which was a fabulous match! If you are a Riesling lover - get to the LCBO now and get some before it's sold out - or failing that order direct from the winery!
Lise Charest Gagne rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Dear Ontario Riesling take note I LOVE YOU! The aromas of stone fruit, citrus fruit and soft petrol float up to the nose, the smell is delicate and teasing in a good way. Upon the first sip of this off dry beauty flavors of citrus, minerals and honey grapefruits made my mouth water. All I could think of was wow this girl has some sweet racy punch!! The acidity with the sweet honey citrus fruits on the finish would be lovely with a spicy something. I enjoyed it with some crusty bread topped with a cranberry chevre drizzled with mango habanero jelly. I think I want some more of this. I quite enjoy the contrast between the racy acidity and off dry fruit forwardness of this lovely Riesling.
From the Niagara Escarpment in Ontario and Vineland Estates, Elevation 2015 from the St. Urban Vineyard has bright acidity with ripe fruit. Flint, citrus, minerality - everything you would look for in a great Riesling wine. Vineland Estate's vintner, Brian Schmidt, has selected the most prestigious portions of the winery's coveted St. Urban Vineyard, first planted in 1979 to make this stellar clean, crisp and lively Riesling. - Community Wine Reviews
