Rotllán Torra 2011

Priorat D.O.C.A., Spain

Malcolm scored this wine: 92/100

Priorat is one of my personal favourite wine regions, and along with Rioja, one of only two regions to hold the top Spanish Denominacion de Origen Calificada (D.O.Ca.). This producer also happen to be producing phenominal wines in the area, this one with some Cabernet Sauvignon blended in. Medium ruby in colour. Wow! Mocha, cedar, clove, tobacco, funk, and red cherry aromas. This will be excellent with lamb, or a roast. Tasted Nov 2016

Banfi Brunello Di Montalcino 2011

Medium garnet appearance. Yum! concentrated, stonedust (mineral), dried cherry, (powerful) leather. High smooth tannins, and a great value at $55! Tasted Nov 2016

Malcolm scored this wine: 90/100

Medium ruby, with some colour extraction in the legs. Yummy! Mocha, cedar, clove, red cherry, tobacco, with soft cherry fruit on palate. Medium (+) smooth tannins, and a very expressive example of a region I particularly enjoy. Great value. Tasted November 2016

Stratus Petit Verdot 2012

Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada

Malcolm scored this wine: 91/100

This variety is typically used in 2-3 % of a blend in Bordeaux. Seeing Stratus' varietal offering is great! And powerful. Graphite (picture a darker, mineral note), violet, mineral, dark cherry, and dried leaf! Yummy, powerful, and age-worthy, with high ripe tannins. Tasted Dec 2016

A Classic style from this top producer. Medium lemon in colour. Very Yummy autolytic characteristics (yeast, bread, brioche), citrus, and green apple. Minerally on the palate, with lemon, lemon peel, toast and bread notes. Tasted Dec 2016
