A crisp, clean South African white wine made from the Chenin Blanc grape. These 30-year-old bush vines are dry farmed and yield terrific concentration of flavour. The winery uses wild yeast for fermentation. Aromas of lemon, lanolin, beeswax and melon. Pair with vegetarian dishes and seafood.

Chenin Blanc food pairings: coquilles St Jacques, Greek salad, salmon tartare served on shaved carrot and zucchini.

Reviews and Ratings

Simon Chen rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

I love the acidity in the chenin blanc. If you like sauv. blanc but hoping for more roundness in the wine, this is the wine to go. The floral, peach gives that roundness and followed by minerality and acidity.
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a seriously cool wine! Made from 30 year old vines it has complex layers from the initial smoothness to sweet stone fruit then zippy citrus flavours to a mineral finish.
This would be great paired with cedar planked salmon. Tasted September 16, 2018.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Aromas of cantaloupe, peach, citrus zest, and freshly cut grass. On the palate, it is zippy with lemon and clementine flavours and a bitter grapefruit finish. The herbal notes follow through on the palate.

Wine-Food Pairing: Pan-seared white fish.

Wineboy rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Oh the heights Chenin Blanc can reach when done well. This one is done well with pear and apricot aromas and flavours clearly evident along with lots of crispness that never reaches the level of "tart". Clean and fresh.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

I love Chenin Blanc. This has lots of white stone fruit, citrus, asian pear, white flowers. There's plenty of acidity here. Perfect for poached halibut or even seared walleye with an herbed compound butter. 89 Points.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Faint aromas of grass, herbs and a bit of smoke. I literally feel like I am on the ocean when I smell this wine. Lots of flavours dancing on my tongue, including lime zest and minerals with a tart finish.

Enjoy with charcuterie or seafood dishes.

Love the name. Waterkloof's Seriously Cool (2017) is a great value Chenin Blanc from the Stellenbosch wine region. Wine grapes for this dry and floral Chenin are from 30-plus year old vines and grapes were grown biodynamically. Look for acacia honey, beeswax, ripe melon and lemon curd flavours on the palate. Great acidity for grilled chicken or fish. - Community Wine Reviews
