The Doctors’ Rosé

Forrest The Doctors’ Rosé 2018

Marlborough, New Zealand
1774 days ago

Mary Anne scored this wine: 89/100

This beautiful Rose is full flavoured yet lighter in alcohol content at only 9% because the cool climate is used to ripen the grapes more slowly thus naturally producing less sugar to ferment into alcohol. The light salmon colour hints at the strawberry aroma and the flavours of raspberry, strawberry and honey. Sweet but with a dry finish. Great paired with barbecued seafood skewers. Tasted May 9, 2019 at New Zealand Pure Discovery 2019.

Nobilo Icon Pinot Noir 2017

Marlborough, New Zealand
1774 days ago

Mary Anne scored this wine: 92/100

This Pinot Noir is more than worthy of the Nobilo Icon label. Rich in colour for a Pinot, it has been aged in French Oak for 10 months. Jammy aromas of ripe dark berries are followed by flavours of cherry, plum and tobacco with a smooth finish. Great paired with some lovely New Zealand lamb chops. Tasted May 9, 2019 at New Zealand Pure Discovery event.

Sacred Hill Reserve Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2018

Hawke's Bay, North Island, New Zealand

Mary Anne scored this wine: 91/100

I love a smooth buttery Chardonnay so this suits one me just fine. This one, made with estate grown grapes from Hawke’s Bay, was aged in 50% oak, 25% new barrels. Aromas of tropical fruit are followed by flavours of peach, vanilla, and caramel with light oak and that rich creamy mouth feel. Great paired with lobster or prawns. Tasted May 9, 2019 at New Zealand Pure Discovery event.

Reserve Clifford Bay

Villa Maria Reserve Clifford Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Clifford Bay, Marlborough, New Zealand
1774 days ago

Mary Anne scored this wine: 90/100

This Sauvignon Blanc is made with grapes from New Zealand’s Awatere’s Valley located close to the ocean. This detail results in a zippy wine with grassy and lime aromas followed by passion fruit, salty and herbaceous notes in the mouth. It would be great paired with Halibut topped with a tangy yoghurt lime sauce. Tasted May 9 at the New Zealand Pure Discovery event.

Esk Valley Winemakers Reserve Syrah 2014

Hawke's Bay, New Zealand

Mary Anne scored this wine: 92/100

Yummmm. This Syrah is made with grapes grown in the gravelly soil of Hawkes Bay. This location influences the grapes by absorbing the suns heat into the rocks during the day and releasing this heat to the vines at night. It’s a generous jammy wine with white pepper and lots of tannins. It would be great paired with spicy barbecued pork. Tasted May 9, 2019 at New Zealand’s Pure Discovery event.
