Mocha and dark chocolate with dark spice on this robust Italian red wine made from the Appassimento method of drying the grapes for great concentration of flavour. Pair with grilled meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

Ridiculously good (if you love Amarone). Age worthy. Gift worthy. Make someone very happy this Christmas. Concentrated chocolate, cherry, coffee. Inky black with aromas of licorice. Beautiful depth to this wine with flavours on the palate of raisins, dried tea leaves and Christmas fruit pudding. It is a very big wine as good Amarone should be. I loved it. Pair it with a well crafted cheese board. @wrightwineblog
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Campolongo di Torbe 2012 offers succulent ripe strawberry, prune, pepper, vegetal, dark chocolate, espresso and oak. Full body, refined tannins, pleasant acidity and a complex finish. Well made wine. Enjoy!

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This Amarone opens with an enticing nose of warm, dried fruit and hints of sweet hay. Fairly restrained with light earthy notes and subtle baked fruit on the palate. Grippy tannins still in play. Winds up with a long, pleasant finish. Would go well with peppery stews, mushroom risotto, lamb shanks, short ribs. Tasted October 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep garnet, opaque in the glass. Soft dark fruit on the nose as well on the palate. Acidity will allow for long aging. Peppery finish. The Amarone will go well with tomato-based sauce dishes and red meat.
Masi Campolongo Di Torbe 2012 is a rich and concentrated, full-bodied Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico from the Veneto wine region made in the Appassimento style of drying the grapes for great concentration of flavours. In this case, rich dark fruit, dark chocolate and savoury spice. Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara grapes for this wine were sourced from a single-vineyard dating back to the 12th Century. Drink now and for the next 10 years. - Community Wine Reviews
