A seductive cool Climate Australian Chardonnay from the Margaret River. Aromas of butterscotch, toasted almond, and green apple. This is a gorgeous Australian Chardonnay has terrific, racy acidity for seafood, shellfish, veal, and roasted chicken.

Chardonnay food pairings: crisp-skinned roast pork, light chicken dishes, creamy pastas and soft cheeses such as brie.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Beautifully integrated Margaret River Chardonnay. Bright platinum sheen, watery rim. Well balanced medium integrated alcohol, medium plus body, with fresh, clean, crisp mouthfeel. Saline minerality, green apple, savoury, blanched almond on the palate. Pairs well oysters Rockefeller, sushi or roast chicken. Easy to enjoy without food as well. Tasted 2017 vintage in March 2018. 92 points @bespoketastings
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A great offering from one of my fave Aussie producers. The Filius Chardonnay is Chablis-like, with lots of unripe stone fruit, lemon, lime, and green apple. The $27 price tag is not steep considering what you get. 92 Points.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

oh wow, nice! Silvery lemon coloured. Elements of grapefruit, lemon zest, white flowers and a hint of lemongrass. Flavours show green apples, white grapefruit, lip smacking and mouthwatering. Hints of sugar snap peas. Vivacious acidity, with a light body and finish. It’s quite crisp, the oak is so subtle that it could pass as an unoaked version. Pair with summer salads and white fish. 91 points - tasted July 2019
Simon Chen rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Coming from Margaret River, a more cool region in Australia. It tasted like a good Chablis. Bright lemon-cirtrus on the nose. Clean and bright acidity on the palate
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The climate of Margaret River in Australia is maritime influenced. This has the affect of tempering the ripeness of the grapes, the result seen in this Chardonnay from Vasse Felix. A clean nose of green apple and pineapple. Lemon, grapefruit and vanilla flavours but not oaky at all. Fresh acidity and long citrus finish. Tasted March 11, 2018
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Crisp green apple and tropical fruit on the nose with lemon, apple and some pineapple on the palate. Crisp acidity throughout. Pair with creamy pasta or roasted chicken. Tasted March 2018.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Very nice! Bright and refreshing. Clean notes of citrus and green apple on the nose. Bright fruit carries through on the palate as well. Acidity is bright and balanced and extends the finish. Crisp and very tasty. Enjoy with white fish, shrimp, or scallops.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Subtle amd soft Chardonnay that hots all the points for hot(ish) climate style. Understated, but toasty and persistent. This wine was tasted in 2018, which makes this very young.
Pale lemon green colour.
Soft aromas of apple, pear, lemon, butter, and devon cream.
The flavours are soft and fruity. Some delicate peach and nectarine. Aple and pear, with some butter on the finish. Easy to appreciate.
Put it with a cobb salad or some lake trout.
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier reviewed this wine as follows:

A yummy steely glorious Chardonnay. I love acidity and this Margaret River Chardonnay brings it! Aromas showcase fresh orchard fruit and lime zest while the palate speaks scrumptious zesty citrus and layered saline minerality notes. An amazing pair with oysters. Tasted March 2018 by @sommsosa.
Vasse Felix Filius (2017) is a cool-climate Chardonnay from the Margaret River Valley in Australia. In fact, this vintage was the coolest in 10 years. Look for toasted nut, crunchy green apple on the racy white made for food -- oysters Rockefeller come to mind. - Community Wine Reviews
