The vines for this stunning Australian Riesling are planted in sparse limestone soils, quite the opposite of Barrosa terroir. The result is a tightly wound, racy, exciting Riesling with a nervy edge of acidity for seafood. This wine will live on past your grandchildren. The wine is named in honour of a winemaker who had been at the helm for 34 years. Highly recommended.

This remarkable Riesling comes from the shallow rocky soils of Australia’s Eden Valley, one of the great Riesling sites of the world. Petrol on the nose with abundant aromas and flavours of fresh zesty lime, stone fruit, a touch of honey and steely acidity. Rich and complex, it is bottled in the vintage and released 5 years later. This is an extraordinarily long living wine that will in the words of Ian Hongell, Lehmann's Chief Winemaker "live past your grandchildren". My favourite white of the group and once again makes me wonder why I don't drink more Riesling. This is one of Lehmann's top tier Masters wines, named for Chief Winemaker Andrew Wigan . He was at Peter Lehmann's side when the winery was founded in 1979 and has had a hand in every Lehmann wine since.
This Riesling has been cold fremented in stainless steel tanks and bottle aged for five years before releasing it's beauty to the world. Lime citrus, lime zest, steely, floral, wet cement and rubber boots round out the aromas and flavours. Bright acidity cuts like a knife and is a perfect accompaniment for seafood, shellfish, fried fish tacos, or fatty cured meats.
Chief Winemaker Ian Hongell suggests this wine will can be enjoyed over 20 plus years.

Crispness and a great acidity highlight this wine. The nose offers petrol and citrus notes. The palate is a wonderful array of lime, crisp green apple and some beeswax. The acidic flavor lasts well beyond the juicy finish.

The Wigan Riesling was a treat to sample (confession - I love rieslings, pretty much the whole gamut). This was All About Lime - lime cordial, limesickle, lime rickey, lime?? and very tight with a mineral edge. The grapes come from the Eden valley - cooler, wetter than the Barossa valley, with rocky soils to challenge the vines. The winery holds this riesling in the bottle for 5 years before release and winemaker Ian recommends waiting a further 20 or so before drinking - sadly, I'm not that patient!!

Lip smacking and good! The nose on this wine is intense showing high notes of beeswax, vinyl (shower curtain), lime and steely minerality. The palate is uber crisp. Acidity is high high high (T.A. 7.45g/l & a pH 2.9), but well balanced with a juicy citrus concentration and a mild wild flower honey note. This wine has won "Best Riesling in the World" seven times in London; an honour that is well deserved! Enjoy this light bodied riesling with pulled chicken tacos, spicy bowl of Pad Thai, or (one of my favourite pairings) sashimi. Tasted May 2016. @sommsosa @bespoketastings

Seemingly delicate at first, but very aromatic. Aromas of lime zest, green apple, and some steely minerality. Bright and crisp, acidity balances out tart citrus flavours nicely. Finish is quite long. A beautiful wine that will continue to age for years, but you can enjoy it now with fish tacos or other light seafood dishes.

Light gold with hints of green. From the altitudes of the Eden Valley, the cool climate accentuates the flinty lime nose and steely acidity that drives citrus and slight honey flavours to a full finish. Perfect for fish tacos especially with a bit of jalapeno kick.

This is a storied Riesling, having been named best riesling in the world 6 times since 1991. The 2011 vintage is a tight Riesling, showing brilliant pale straw and an ABV of 11%. Made from low yield vineyards in the high Eden Valley, stainless fermentation and bottle aged 5 years prior to release. Showing dominant green lime, steely vibrant and refreshing acidity and Riesling's signature petrol. Chief winemaker Ian Hongell advocates that this wine could live past your grandchildren and can easily be cellared for 20 years. Pair with pan-fried white fish, gourmet fish tacos, Pad Thai or Asian fusion. A beautiful wine at an accessible price point. @jonsteeves rated 90 - tasted May 2016

An age-worthy Riesling with aromas of petrol, green apple, lime, and white flowers . Beautiful pale gold colour.Tastes of Lemon and lime, high acidity, and a very clean lime finish. This has already been bottle aged for five years and will continue to improve fr at least another ten, should you have that kind of willpower.

Pale gold with delicate greenish hue. Generous aroma of lime and green apple with added citrus flavours. Crisp, dry and refreshing with steely acidity. Deserving of its many awards. Would stand up to any occasion- but how about a plate of bbq wings and a playoff game?

Bottle-aged for 5 years, but you could apparently drink this wine in 15-20 years…
Presentation: Clean, simple
Appearance: Very light
Nose: Strong petrol, steel
Taste: Acidic, strong lime taste, very aromatic
Finish: Long acidity and lime
Overall impression: A good Riesling, but admittedly not my favourite. A little too much on the lime for my liking. It needs a strongly flavoured dish. It paired nicely with the pork belly with chili lime caramel canapé I had. I was quite surprised to hear you could cellar this wine for upwards of 20 years, and I’d be more than interested to try.
