Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

An elegant 100% Chardonnay from Chile's Elqui Valley, crafted from hand-harvested grapes. Full-bodied yet fresh in style, it shows delicious citrus, papaya, honey and toast notes on nose and palate. Well-balanced with excellent acidity and a lingering fruit finish.
Pair with oysters, shrimp, scallops or white meats.
Tasted Oct. 2018 with the winemaker, Matias Cruzat.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Beautiful, accessibly priced and well balanced. Approachable from many fronts. This vineyard is located in a region where there is little variation between seasons and is less impacted by the rise in National temperature being experienced by Chilean vineyards. Fruit was hand harvested, hand selected at around 29 S degrees lattitude. Golden straw, bright, elegant. Enjoyed notes of citrus fruit, with a green apple finish. Medium-full body, zesty and fresh. Paired well with a soft cheese platter and slightly browned white bread. Would love to pair with a slice of parma ham and a drizzle of olive oil. Tasted 2017 vintage in October 2018. 90 points #goodvalue
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A gem of a chardonnay from the dry Elqui Valley. The 2017 growing season in Elqui experienced only slightly higher temperatures than normal. Expect lots of fresh ctirus and green apple on the nose and palate with very little oak influence, lightness on the malo and a clean, sharp finish. Ideal paired with fish tacos. Oct 2018
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Chilean Chardonnay from the La Chincilla vineyard in the Elqui Valley has lots of minerality on the nose followed by citrus notes, hazelnut, and subtle and gentle wood notes. It is full bodied and creamy on the palate while remaining fresh and not too oaky. It is tart with lemon and peach flavours and a hazelnut finish.

Wine-Food Pairing: Butter seared scallops. Shellfish.

Tasted October 2018 at the Vina San Pedro wine tasting event.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A very pretty pale gold with a delicate green tint. These grapes were picked early to preserve the freshness. Ripe pears, golden apples, fresh cilantro and splashes of crisp stony minerality. On the palate the flavours evolve with baked fruit, lemon curd and a mouth watering, creamy mouthfeel. Fresh with food - a keen pairing with garlic buttered shrimp and soft cheeses. - Tasted October 2018 with winemaker Matias Cruzat.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

From the Elqui Valley, the 1865 Selected Vineyards 2017 100% Chardonnay was harvested by hand at La Chincilla Vineyard, which is owned by 1865 Vineyards. This wine shows aromas of pear, pineapple, citrus blossom, honey and light oak. On the palate, pineapple, pear, honey, minerality, cream and oak. Full body with a long finish, the 1865 Chardonnay exhibits ideal equilibrium between acidity and oak that delivers a well-made Chardonnay. Pair with cheese or seafood. Enjoy! Tasted at Chateau Laurier winemakers from Vina San Pedro’s properties 1865 Single Vineyards October 2018.
