A terrific, full-bodied Italian red wine blend of 95% Sangiovese, 3% Canaiolo and 2% Colorino grapes. Dievole is a consistently good producer even in challenging vintages like the 2014. This Chianti Classico Riserva Novecento offers aromas of dark fruit and smoke. Pair with hearty meat dishes.

Chianti Classico food pairings: roast duck, grilled chicken breast, veal Porterhouse.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

It is hard not to like Chianti amd this one is a prime example of why. Sometimes the style can afford really concentrated elements that balance savoury and fruit. This one is mostly Sangiovese, with only a dash of Cannaiolo and Colorino.
Beautiful aromas of incense, cranberry, cassis, chocolate, cinnamon, and pomegranate.
The flavours are surprisingly pure and lithe. Lots of juicy red and black fruit. The spice warms your palate after. Lots of cinnamon, mace, and dried tea leaves.
Worthy of a short term in the cellar (5-7). It is pretty dazzling right now. Put it with brunello rabbit - something as luxirious as this wine.
Colette Martin rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Appearance: medium ruby, clear
Aromas are subtle but plum, cranberry with a hint of smoke baking spice and chocolate
The aromas repeat on the palate
Elegant and slightly grippy mouthfeel
Full bodied with a nice balance of tannin and acidity
Nice long finish of ripe dark fruit, pepper and smoke
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby, showing a lot of cherry, earth, and a bit of leather. Dry, nice balance of acidity, fruit, and smoky notes, with grippy tannin that would benefit from a few hours decanting. Overall very nice, enjoy with a bison burger or a steak.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Lots of black cherry, dried herb and a hint of vanilla on the nose. Leather, tobacco notes and a hint of citrus peel come through on the palate and the finish. 90 points.
Nicole Lewis rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A garnet wine with a hint of 'bricking' on the rim, the bouquet is redolent with ripe cherry, cassis, baking spice, earth, white pepper and a smokiness. This is a full-bodied wine with high acidity, good ripe fruit and complexity to match. A pretty classic good quality Chianti that would pair well with a variety of Italian dishes.

Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A bit subdued. This is a blend of 95% Sangiovese, 3% Canaiolo and 2% Colorino. Cherry and a bit earthy on the nose. Tannins are still grippy and drying. Dried cherry flavours. Acidity is underlying. Tasted March 11, 2018.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Medium garnet colour with orange reflections. Incandescent aromas of cherry, cranberry, strawberry, and raspberries. Elements of leather and smoke also present. Flavours evolve showing sour cherry, cranberry and elements of spicy woody paprika. High acidity, medium body and finish with some stoney minerals present. A great example of Chianti Classico, drink now but can further age. A perfect pair for pizza topped with sundried tomato and salami. 90 points - tasted March 2018
Luc Delorme rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A fine example of a well-balanced Chianti. Restrained on the nose, but opens up big-time to red fruit and pepper on the palate. Nice acidity to go with traditional Tuscan tomato-based dishes. The finish is more grippy than most Chiantis. Great to enjoy today, but could certainly be cellared for a few more years.
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Cherry and cranberry aromas with peppery cherry on the palate. High acidity with some stony minerality throughout. Would pair well with hearty tomato based pasta. Tasted March 2018.
Simon Chen rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

coming from a cold year in Chianti, this chianti classico riserva is thin and has high acid. The high acid will go well with bolognese or tomato-based meats.
Dievole Novecento Riserva 2014 is a Chianti Classico red wine blend of 95% Sangiovese, 3% Canaiolo and 2% Colorino from the Tuscany wine region. This is a rich, dry and weighty red with dark cherry, light green herb and savoury spice flavours. Lovely now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
