Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Arguably one of the most praised white wines hailing from the impressive Oakville region in Napa. This is an iconic Chardonnay that has won countless awards since its first vintage in 1979. The colour is rich golden yellow, and the nose displays intense orchard fruit, tropical fruit, buttered popcorn, and caramel. Full bodied and luscious beyond words. 100% barrel fermented, 100% malolactic fermentation, 100% incredible depth of complexity in this wonderful Chardonnay. Pair with just about anything, and would complement the creamiest and smokiest dishes you can find. Think rich pasta, smoked poultry, cedar plank pork tenderloin with a smoked apple sauce compote. Absolutely lovely! Tasted April 2015. 94 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Nick Onischuk - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

The Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay 2012 is simply stunning! Beautiful aromas and taste of fresh fruit, caramel and buttery notes. Very smooth on the palate – a must try wine! Tasted April 14, 2015 (93/100)
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This beautiful golden Chardonnay will make you a convert if you aren't already. Aromas of honey and caramel introduce you to a very smooth and velvety wine with butterscotch and peachy undertones. A hint of oak completes the finish. I paired it with shrimp and a spicy sauce with great success. Also delicious sipped on its own.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This is a beautiful California Chardonnay from the brilliant deep lemon colour; to the intense aromatic nose; to the rich and creamy palate; and the long butter toffee finish. 100% of this wine was sourced from single vineyard, old vines in Oakville AVA Napa Valley. This is about as far north as Chardonnay would be planted in Napa, California. 100% barrel aged with 70% new French oak and this white wine has undergone 100% MLF. Caramel apple, pear, tropical, smoke, butter, yogurt, toffee, oak, butterscotch, honey and bright acidity all wrapped up in this iconic full-bodied wine. This is one for the collector or gift ( yes please!). Paired beautifully with rich lobster bisque. Pair with equally rich or smoked dishes: cream cheese with lox, grilled salmon, charred tuna steak, seafood linguine in cream sauce.

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This Beringer beauty is the vintage that won 93 pts in Wine Spectator in 2014. It's a full-bodied extra-dry buttery Chard showing richness and complexity. 100% barrel-fermented, using 70% new French oak, which the winemaker feels complements the fruit for optimal flavour expression. Lots of tree fuit with delicious caramel flavours in a well-balanced integrated elegant style. A great gift for a chard lover.
Donna Hargrove rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This deliciously complex Chardonnay will make you a fan if you aren't already. Clear and light in colour, Lovely caramel flavours with notes of fresh fruit. This was delicious paired with spicy shrimp cocktail, but would be a wonderful sipping wine as well. Tasted April 14, 2015
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This single-vineyard Chardonnay from the Oakville AVA is full bodied and full of flavours. Aromas are complex and include caramel, lemon, honey, pear, and an almost smoky note. On the palate this wine is rich and smooth, with a ton of body from both oak aging as well as malolactic fermentation. Try this with smoked salmon, roasted lemon and thyme chicken, or anything really.
This Californian Chardonnay is a heavy-hitter: full-bodied, layered and rich. Toasty oak, smoke, vanillin, caramel and baked peach pie from generous oak aging. - Community Wine Reviews
