Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Always a delight to try wines from British Columbia’s Sperling Vineyards from iconic winemaker, Ann Sperling. From the Okanagan Valley, this beautifully pale red Pinot Noir is one hundred percent locally estate grown. An organic delight with fresh strawberries, thyme and smoky earth aromas. Flavours awaken the senses with tart, mouthwatering cherries, raspberries and delicate, lingering minerals with a pinch of freshly ground peppery heat. Bright and lively acidity will allow this to age nicely for 5-7 more years. Enjoy with mushroom terrine and herbed pork tenderloin. Enjoy! - Tasted December 2020
Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Certified organic by Pro-Cert, this enticing pinot noir was crafted from hand harvested grapes in British Columbia’s lauded Okanagan Valley appellation.

The bouquet revealed shy wild cherry, wood smoke, tilled garden soil, tobacco leaf and cracked pepper scents that mingled beautifully the medium bodied palate’s ample layers of flavours - red berries, wood smoke and spice led the performance - and its approachable, pulling tannins. The fruit aftertaste had staying power. Spice rubbed flank steak would pair nicely with this pinot. Enjoy.

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

From Sperling Vineyards, their 2018 Pinot Noir is a classic, dry, medium-plus-bodied PN with ripe red berries, red currant, cherry, fresh mushroom, violets with a lingering citrusy, mineral finish. Tannins are velvety and there is good acidity for food. Pour with roast Cornish game hens. Produced from organically-grown wine grapes with 40% of the hand-harvested bunches whole-cluster fermented in small lots and matured in large, older oak barrels (265 to 500 litre) more to marry and mellow the wine with only a small percentage of new oak. Produced from 114, 777 and 828 Dijon Pinot Noir clones Tasted December 2020.
Julian Park rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Light red garnet colour. The aroma of violets, strawberries and cherries. Flavours of red cherries, raspberries, forest floor, spice and wood with pepper notes on the long finish. The pinot has excellent acidity and grippy tannins for ageing.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Beautiful BC Pinot Noir! Aromas of red cherry, raspberry, leather, smoke and black pepper. Medium bodied, with vibrant acidity and light tannins, the fruit flavours are bright and slightly tart. Smoky and leathery notes balance out the tart fruit flavours. Slight peppery hint on the finish. Enjoy with marinated flank steak with lots of peppery seasoning.
A consistently gorgeous Pinot Noir with bright cherry aromas, raspberry and white pepper aromas on the nose. Silky smooth with tart red cherry, violets, warm spice and a hint of leather. Medium-bodied with vibrant acidity for food. Pair with roast Cornish game hens. - Community Wine Reviews
