Henry Of Pelham Estate's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot red wine blend is produced from grapes grown on the winery's own estate. Yields are kept low to 2 to 3 tonnes per acre so that the grapes are concentrated with layers of blueberry, plum, black currant, mocha, vanilla and cloves, cinnamon spice. This wine is one that stands out above the rest from one of Ontario's best-known producers. Enjoy now with a slow-roast beef brisket or hold in cellar for five years.

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Harmoniously full-bodied, flavourful, perfumed and opaque. This cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot blend boasted bold dark fruit preserves, earthy and coco aromas enhanced with whiffs of cola. On the palate, heaps of cedar and spice joined the parade. This gem was crafted from fruit grown in lacustrine silty clay soil in the Short Hills Bench appellation, the most easterly of the sub-appellations located within Ontario’s Niagara Escarpment. Enjoy.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Lovely concentrated flavours in this wine, blended from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Aromas of blueberry, plum, dark chocolate, clove and pepper. Full bodied and smooth on the palate, with ripe fruit and berry flavours with a hint of oak and warm spice on the finish. Enjoy with beef short ribs.
Courtney Flood rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Made from some of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot vines on the estate; aged in both French and American Oak for 18 months; all working to form this concentrated wine still displaying a good dose of tannin after 5 years of aging. Flavours of plum, blueberry and cherry; spicy tobacco, coffee and black pepper. Bright acidity and still retaining some grippy tannin. Pair with grilled mushrooms, lamb, beef.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Henry of Pelham Estate Cabernet-Merlot blend. A fine Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Grown from old vines and aged for 18mos in French and American oak barrels (40% new) Plummy and fruit forward with cherry, strawberry, plums, anise, cassis and black currants. Dry (2g/L) with residule berry sweetness. Acidity is high with medium plus tannins and a strong finish. Dark chocolate and tart raspberries. Still a bit young - will benefit from 2-4 yrs further aging. Try this with pepper and sausage pizza or pork ribs. 89 points - tasted December 2018
From the Short Hills Bench, Niagara Escarpment wine region, Henry Of Pelham Estate's 2015 is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot red wine blend from grapes grown on the winery's own estate. Yields are kept low to 2 to 3 tonnes per acre so that the grapes are concentrated with layers of blueberry, plum, black currant, dark chocolate, vanilla, cloves and cinnamon spice. Nice spicy lingering finish on this topnotch wine for one of Ontario's best-known producers. Round, voluptuous and full-bodied Cabernet-Merlot blend from Niagara. Pair with grilled pork chops.
