Sweet chocolate hits you on the nose first followed by smoky campfire aromas on the nose. The palate is round and supple with lots of sweet chocolate and mocha notes. Cannonball (on the label) represents freedom: the child with legs tucked up underneath him as he dives into the water. Lots of fleshy ripe black fruit here in this big Californian Cabernet. Full-bodied with some herbal notes. Lots of mocha, cocoa, cola, and smoke from generous oak aging. Good tannin structure and balance. Pair with Beef daube.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: grilled burgers, Margherita pizza, pepper steaks, smoky ribs.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A full-bodied Cab from Healdsburg, California, giving delicious aromas and flavours of ripe strawberries, black cherries, vanilla, milk chocolate, mint and oak. Smooth and well-structured. Drink now or cellar til 2014.
Tasted at California Wine Fair 2017
Cannonball is an iconic Cabernet Sauvignon Californian robust and well-structured red wine. The 2014 vintage is round and supple with lots of mocha and dark cherry on the nose and palate. Cannonball (on the label) represents freedom: the child with legs tucked up underneath him as he dives into the water. Brings back childhood memories of grilled stead and burgers on the barbie. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
