Wow, this is a terrific blend of mostly Syrah grapes, but also some Cabernet Sauvignon for structure. Paso Robles tends to be warmer on average than Napa, and so the fruit here is riper and the wine richer in the glass. Pair with grilled meats.

Northern Rhone with a California twist! This red wine is primarily Syrah with Cabernet Sauvignon. The balance is Petit Verdot, Petit Syrah, Malbec and a touch of Viognier. We're half way to Los Angeles in the geography of this wine and in an area known for unconventional blends, lower land values and limestone with clay overlay soils. Full-bodied but approachable with aromas and flavours of succulent black fruit, warm baking spices, black licorice, pepper, with plenty of tannins and acidity. This is a wine for the cellar or 2 hour decanting. Pair with finer cuts of beef, preferably medium-rare. Really nicely crafted.

This wine represents a new trend in winemaking with a non-traditional blend of Syrah and Cab Sauv plus a bit of Viognier, Petit Verdot, Petit Syrah and Malbec for good measure. The result is a full bodied wine with an interesting nose of cherry, plum and pepper. Flavours are bold with dark fruit, spice and licorice. This would pair well with a nice roast of lamb.

A surprise highlight for many at a tasting with the winemaker, this wine has a lot to offer, especially considering its price. The aromas cover a wide spectrum from dark red cherry and vanilla to violets and lavender, and the taste is tart black fruit, pepper and other spices and some grippy tannins. It seems to be out of stock at the moment, and based on the value, I'd expect that often. Keep clicking that "check LCBO stock" button!

This unique blend of Napa red varietals blew me away! Comprised of mainly Syrah, Cab Sauv, and the balance Petit Verdot, Malbec, Petit Syrah, and a splash of Viognier, this is a beautiful blend of Napa and Norther Rhone. Ripe dark berries, stewed fruits, spice, with intense flavours and tannins making this a big and bold wine that commands a rich and hearty dish to find that perfect food-wine harmony with. This Syrah blend represents the best of Beringers' Paso Robles vineyards. Syrah is blended with Cab Sauv, Petit Verdot, Malbec and a touch of Viognier. The winemaker explained that even a small percentage of Viognier added can affect the flavour, This is a full-bodied red with lots of bright red fruit, tangy flavours, a hint of spice and floral notes. A lot of wine value at an accessible price point.

This red is an perfect example of Beringer Winemaker Laurie Hook's outstanding skill at blending grapes. With a base of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, small additions of Malbec, Petit Syrah and Petit Verdot, the surprise is a splash of Viognier for good measure. Medium red in colour, the resulting blend is the perfect mix of floral aromas, smooth mouthfeel and notes of cherry and plum. Tasted April 14, 2015

A wonderful and unexpected blend of syrah, cab sauvignon, malbec, petit verdot, petit syrah, and viognier. Fragrant floral aromas intermingled with cedar, spice, smoke and ripe, jammy berries. Pepper and spice really come through on the palate with some grippy tannins. A wine that will benefit from aging, but if you have to have it now, decant for a few hours and enjoy it with a steak.

Holy tannins! Key aromas/flavours include: vanilla, dark berry fruit, black plums, some floral (violets), a touch of baking spice and smoky notes. Nicely integrated acidity, full bod, and a long grippy finish. The tannins are uber so it over powers everything. This wine can and should be aged. If you can't wait, open the day before you want to serve it or at least double, no triple, decant. Cheers!
