Nose is very yeasty, like when you dilute yeast in warm water to make pizza dough. Crisp wine with personality and you get the pastry aroma in retro. Well made. Would be great with crab cakes. Good value.

The 2013 Ward 5 Brut Blanc is brilliant pale straw, declared 11% ABV, Single varietal vidal, single block, charmat method Brut. The aromatics show complexity of bruised apple, marzipan, bread crust, citrus. This is a complex wine at an accessible price point. Enjoy 2016-2018.

Presentation: Busy. The key elements of the bubbly seem hidden, like the varietal and producer.
Appearance: Light yellow
Nose: Marzipan, bruised green apple
Taste: Small bubbles and still with marzipan and bruised green apples.
Finish: a little sour on the back end.
Overall impression: Decent bubbly to start off an evening.
