This wine is a blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 20% Carignan. It floods the senses with black cherry liqueur, dark spices and smoke. Beautifully concentrated and powerful. This winery uses small barrels to age the wine, which results in a vanilla-spice finish.

Reviews and Ratings

Carola Price rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lilac and lavender with some black pepper and black cherry. Softening tannin but still a heavy hitter. Buy the latest vintage and see the development in 10 years.
If you managed to keep this in the cellar pair this with a charcuterie plate and garlic roasted chicken or porchetta.
Drink or hold for 5 years. Decanting recommended
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Dark fruit with a nice tannic pull. As the complexity unwinds flavours of smoke, cherries and spice.Finish of vanilla and tart cherries. I could drink more of this!
Tasted April 3/16
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Lots on the nose of this, some floral, cedar, smoke and spice (dried herbs). Fruit is still quite bright, mixed with a of dried herbs and cedar. Acid is bright, finish lingers.

Enjoy with a great steak.
Would love to try the new vintage of this (2012 Available now) to compare.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The complexity of this older blend of Grenache Syrah Carignan is interesting. Layers of fruit, garrigue, herbal notes and dark fruits. Over the years the oak has smoothed and is predominant but still lots of fruit. This would be interesting to try with a charcuterie board of mixed cheese and meats.
Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Heady lavender, spicy plums and hints of mint, and a wonderful balance of tannins and acidity, making this a very food friendly wine.
Tasted 3 April 2016.
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This 20004 vintage blend has complex aromas of ripe fruit, smoke and cedar. Flavours of pepper, cherry and herbs engage the mouth. It would pair nicely with grilled meats.
Wineboy rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

While the aromas have softened a bit over 12years since harvest, the body of the fruit is still fresh and resilient. Still with some life in it, a touch of tannins will protect this wine for another 3 years safely. Thanks John.
