The vines for this robust red wine are planted in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. The estate has specialized in making Cabernet Sauvignon for more than 50 years. A full-bodied Chilean red wine with attractive aromas of black fruit and toasty oak. Pair with grilled meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A powerhouse Cab Sauv - vinified with fruit from the Intriga estate, vines aged over 50 years in Maipo Valley, Chile. 14.5% ABV. If this wine could talk, it would scream for a pairing with a thick cut AAA rare steak with a side of butter sautéed mushrooms. Well balanced, medium plus - integrated tannins, fruit, acidity. Full bodied and ready to enjoy. Drinking well at present. A huge value for money. Accessibly priced and well structured. A buy by the case option for value seekers. Blackberry, strawberry, cassis, eucalyptus. Tasted 2014 vintage Dec 2017. 92 points.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Crafted at Montgras winery in the well renown Maipo Valley region, comes this full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon, Intriga 2014. Dark skin plum, dark chocolate, nutmeg and oak will perfume your glass. Tart plum, coffee, baking spice and oak will linger in your mouth. This grippy wine has delicious tannins and good acidity presence. Try it with red meat. Cheers!

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is a well made Maipo Cabernet. Decent amount of oak. Maipo Cab is grown on alluvial rocks and always has a nice brambley exoticism to it. There is a vegetal character that comes off sometimes like mint.
Deep, concentrated purplish-ruby.
Cassis, pain grille, brambley blackberry, camphor, pen ink, and dried herb.
It's hefty, but not imbalanced on the palate. There is plenty of juiciness. Lots more blackberry, cassis and cranberry too. Chocolate, vanilla, and a touch more dried herb.
Great Chilean stuff. Good woth grilled meats, mushrooms, and charcuterie.
Could age 5-7 years nicely.
Intriga (2014) is a mainly a Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot red wine blend aged more than 20 months in French oak barrels. Wine grapes are harvested from 30 year old vines at the Intriga Estate which is located at the foothills of the Andes Mountain. On the palate the wine is rick black fruit, cassis, dark chocolate, vanilla and spice. Pair with grilled steaks. - Community Wine Reviews
