I loved this wine, from the first time we met ;) Velvet and violets - texture and taste. Black pepper and dark plum. Pair with veal chops.

Reviews and Ratings

L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

From New Zealand Pure Discovery Wine Fair: Medium ruby with a definite purple hue, dry, full bodied and with balanced acidity and tannins. Pronounced intensity aroma of black pepper with floral notes of violet and lavender, soft cedar shavings and black fruit. Black pepper is dominant taste, with good floral , fruit and cedar tastes. Long finish of black pepper with lavender and cedar.
Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Skillfully produced by an award winning family owned winery, this syrah is superb. Look forward to a seductive selection of red and black fruits framed with savoury smoke. Showing an eye catching purple hue, this syrah is medium bodied with noticeable but not firm tannins and a long, flavourful finish.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Craggy Range Le Sol Syrah Hawke’s Bay 2015, reveals flavors of black cherry, dark plum, black pepper, leather, cigar box and oak. Full-bodied, the wine shows a nice balance between alcohol and fruit finish. Will be at its best with meat or for sipping after diner. Enjoy. Tasted at New-Zealand Wine Pure Discovery, May 2019.
Paula Bernardino rated this wine as 82/100 with the following review:

I attended the Pure Discovery 2019 event featuring wines from New Zealand. At the Toronto event May 8, 2019 I focused on New Zealand’s reds, which included mainly Pinot Noir, Merlot and Syrah.

I tried the Le Sol Syrah from Craggy Range. Fun purple colour with flavours of blueberry. Cool minimalist label.
