Paula scored this wine: 91/100

This was my weekend wine pick: an amazing light red from Côtes du Roussillon. Great blend with 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre, a nice bright red colour. Aromas and flavours of red berries. Paired well with a mix of cheeses (cheddar and camembert) and charcuteries. 13% alcohol. Fun name and fun label. Available at the SAQ (SAQ code: 13117697) at $27.65.

This was my weekend #wine pick: a Sauvignon Blanc bought at a grocery store (Provigo) - an international blend from imported wines. Fruity & fresh with clear citrus notes and passion fruit. Great pairing with sushi! 12% alcohol. Available at grocery stores such as Provigo and IGA at $10.49.

This was my weekend wine pick: a red from the beautiful Dão region in Portugal, an interesting blend of four typical Portuguese varietals: Touriga-Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Tinta-Roriz and Jaen. A dark ruby colour with aromas and flavours of berries, slightly spicy and a beautiful smooth finish. It paired well with seafood and chicken paella. Classy simple label. Available at the SAQ (SAQ code: 11895321) at $18.65. 13,5% alcohol.

This was my weekend #wine pick: a typical Cab Sauvignon from California. Full-bodied with strong aromas and flavours of dark cherry and plum. I paired it with soft cheeses with prune jam. Classy simple label. Available at the SAQ (SAQ code: 12257014) at $24.25. 13.9% alcohol.

Creative winemaker Richard Painter from Villa Maria, New Zealand’s most awarded winery, was named 'Winemaker of the Year' at the 2018 Royal Easter Show Wine Awards. He was in Montreal July 22 to present the Left Field brand coming soon to the SAQ. We got a peak of his wines at the SeaSalt & Ceviche Bar in Old Montreal. The Te Awa Syrah is sourced from premium vineyards. Aromas of dark berries with spicy and floral flavours, in additions to blueberry and raspberry flavours. Beautiful creative label. 13% alcohol.
