This was my weekend wine pick: a lovely rosé 100% Cinsault from Languedoc-Roussillon in France. I discovered it at the Muv Box restaurant in the Old Port of Montreal. Nice pinkish salmony colour with intense aromas and flavours of strawberries. Great pairing with my lobster roll. Available at the SAQ in a convenient format of 250 ml bottle (equivalent of two glasses) at $4.75. (SAQ code: 13637511) 12% alcohol.

This was my weekend wine pick: a nice Cab Merlot from Niagara. Nice blend of 38% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc. Nice dark ruby red colour with aromas and flavours of dark berries. Soft tannins and a dry finish on the palate. I paired it with a platter of charcuterie and cheeses. SAQ code: 13220117 at $17.95 and LCBO#: 75689 at $15.95. 12.5% alcohol.

Côtes de Provence Lampe de Méduse – Cru classé 2018

Côtes De Provence, France

A former medieval monastery, Château Sainte-Roseline was awarded the "Cru Classé" distinction. The domain welcomes people for wine tastings, corporate events and weddings all year round. The owner of Sainte-Roseline wines in Provence (France), Aurélie Bertin, was in Montreal recently and I got to meet her (June 4, 2019) to discover and discuss the latest vintage of three of her rosé wines. Our third and last rosé was the Lampe de Méduse, which is presented in a very original pear-shaped bottle. Very interesting and elaborate blend of Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Rolle, Syrah and Tibouren, which ends up as a light salmon pink colour. Aromas of strawberry and citrus and flavours of fresh citrus and tropical fruits. I paired it with duck breast and salty roasted potatoes. 13.5% alcohol. Available by private import.

Our second rosé was the Roseline Prestige offered in a stunning beautiful and original bottle. The bottle cap can be kept and/or given as a present souvenir. A nice light pink and golden colour. Aromas of fresh herbs and flavours or red berries with a slight touch of acidity. I paired it with duck breast and salty roasted potatoes. 13% alcohol. Available by private import.

The owner of Sainte-Roseline wines in Provence (France), Aurélie Bertin, was in Montreal recently and I got to meet her (June 4, 2019) to discover and discuss the latest vintage of three of her rosé wines. We started with the Roseline, a nice blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Carignan. Light salmon colour with aromas of grapefruit. Very fresh with interesting flavours of grapefruit and raspberries. We paired it with melted goat cheese and arugula salad. Available at the SAQ (Code SAQ: 00534768) at $14.95 and at the LCBO (LCBO: 534768). 13% alcohol. Nice “happy” label.
