This was my weekend wine pick: an interesting unusual and complex white wine from Croatia. Located in the northwest of Istria, Clai Wines is the focus of Giorgio Clai’s work to make organic wines from native Croatian grapes. Made with 100% Malvazija, it has an intense golden yellow colour in the glass with aromas and flavours of honey and apricots, and a soft hint of vanilla. Paired well with Italian arancini and meetballs. 14% alcohol. Fun creative label. Available at the LCBO (LCBO#: 770511) at $34.85.
