An elegant, full-bodied Carmenère from Chile's Aconcagua Valley with grapes sourced from the village of Hijuelas, 100 kilometres north of Santiago. Arboleda is a boutique winery producing six, single-vineyard wines. Great value from Eduardo Chadwick. According to the back label, the wine's name is a tribute to the 1,450 hectares of native forest that surround the winery's sustainably farmed vineyards. Look for bright cherry, fresh herbs, black olive and leafy flavours on the palate. Tannins are structured and chewy.

Reviews and Ratings

Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Very typical of Carmenere, with its slightly herbal, tomato leaf character layered with chocolate, youngberry and fresh chives. It's fresh with plenty of black fruit and ready for drinking. Sustainably farmed. Try with Peking duck pancakes with hoisin sauce
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A good example of a Chilean Carmenere with all the expected descriptor of the variety. Dark berries, herbs and green pepper stand out in the aromas. Medium-bodied with a smooth peppery finish. Pair with barbequed red meat in an herbal marinade.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Smoked green bell peppers greet you on the nose with lively hints of black fruit peaking through. Smooth on the palate with ample, brambly fruit. Tannins are soft and chalky. This food friendly Carmenere would go well with short ribs or hearty stews. Tasted January 2020.. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Arboleda 2017 Carmenère is a juicy medium-plus-bodied red produced from wine grapes sourced for a single vineyard in the Aconcagua Valley wine region. Great value under $20. Look for bright cherry, herbal, leafy and cracked pepper flavours on the palate. Tannins are structured. Decant one hour prior to pouring with a veal tenderloin. - Community Wine Reviews
