Made from 100% Malbec grapes grown in the Gualtallany, Tupungato regions of Mendoza planted at 1307 metres above sea level in calcium carbonate soils. Gualtallany is an increasingly fashionable region within the Mendoza as the fruit there develops rich polyphenols in the skins: colour, flavour and tannin character. Aromas of black fruit, smoke, pencil led and anise with great minerality. The wine was aged for 19 months in French oak barrels. This wine is suggested to those studying for the Master of Wine exam as one of the best examples of Argentine Malbec. Each year, the front label honours one of the grape growers who provided the best fruit for the vintage. Pair with smoked meats, game birds and exam study and tasting sessions.

From the Terroir series, which highlights variations in Malbec from different regions. This full-bodied beauty is from the fashionable Gualtallary, Trupangato area of Mendoza, crafted using grapes grown at 1307 m.a.s.l. It is used during Master of Wine exams to represent one of Mendoza’s best quality Malbec wines. Wild yeast fermentation and 3-4 daily pump-overs to maximize flavour extraction. Deep ruby red and intensely aromatic, with notes of dark fruit, plums, minerality, mint, thyme, licorice and graphite throughout and pronounced fruit flavours on the palate. Ideal with red meats, game, venison, pheasant and hard cheeses. This would be a terrific gift wine. Look for it in the Nov. LCBO release.

Used as part of the Master of Wine education set as an example of what a typical Argentinian Malbec is. Unique terroir, 1300 meters above sea level the soil is saturated with calcium carbonate, so these plants produce a lot of polyphenol components which give this unique Malbec its bevy of bright aromas and flavours.

Deep opaque purple colour revealing notes of plum, cherry, cassis, and a hint of black steeped tea and cigar box. Flavours encompass rich, ripe full strawberry, dried fruit, prune, pepper and leather.
Full bodied with rich full tannins. Unique and ever evolving. Long and full finish with an element of salinity and nutmeg persisting, accenting the fabulous forward fruit. A great example of the terroir of this region.

This wine is crafted from 100% Malbec grapes grown at high altitudes in the Mendoza province of Argentina. Its colour is deep purple. It has an astringent bouquet of fresh herbs, graphite and dark fruit. The plum and dark cherry taste feel juicy and luscious on the palate which complex and supported by well integrated tannins with medium finish. Score 93. (S.Segard, reviewed Sept 15, 2017)

The wine is from the 'Terrori series' of the Trapiche Winery, and the idea is to highlight the versatility of Malbec in different regions in Argentina. Ambrosia vineyard is located 4,288 feet above sea levels. It’s less ripe, less fruity, but is also more complex on the mid palate and long lingering tannins due to the cold weather. Definitely a more elegant Malbec that fits my style.

This is a model example of Malbec, recommended for those studying for the Master of Wine exam. The grapes from Gualtallany are highly sought after, and shows in rich colour, flavour, and tannin extraction. There is a nice balance of ripe red fruit, plum, violet, and pepper on the nose. More pepper and anise come through on the palate but mingle nicely with plum, cherry, and a nice mineral character. There is a lot going on with this wine, but balances beautifully. Enjoy this with rustic mushroom or lamb dishes.

This wine is the epitome of what Malbec stands for! Deep purple colour with ruby hues. Dark smoky fruit, mint and licorice aromas. The tannins are gripping and chalky and matched up to 14.5% abv. The Terroir Series really highlights the different terroirs that Mendoza has to offer.
