Natalie's Score: 89/100

Smoky earth and toasty oak on the nose of this wine with black cherry on the palate of this full-bodied French red wine. Deep concentration and ripeness here. Very smooth on the palate: great right out of the gate. That sourness is on the finish, but again in a pleasant way like cooked black fruit with dark spices.

Mourvèdre Syrah Grenache food pairings: meat pizza, vegetarian lasagna, tortiere.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This wine is always a winner. A nice core of black cherry, plum and blueberry are surrounded by crushed rock, spice, and dried herb. 92 Points
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a smoky wine with aromas of plum, black current, fresh tobacco, vanilla and underwood. It is structured, and has dark berry and sweet tobacco flavours, and a long finish on the palate. Tasted October 2017
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Cassis drenched sour black cherry on the nose and palate. Other flavors peek through on the well balanced palate including blackberry, blueberry, licorice and white pepper. Lovely, lingering spicy finish.
From Château D'anglès Classique La Clape (2015) is a 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre red wine blend from the Midi wine region. This southern France red is great value under $20 with its zesty black cherry, spice, garrigues herbs and white pepper on the palate. Drink now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews
