What a perfect wine for the half size: robust and tasty … a party for one! This wine, like Amarone, is made with partially dried grapes for extra concentration of flavour. Dark cherry liqueur and some licorice. Big and beautiful!

Reviews and Ratings

Cheryl Smith rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

Loved this wine! If you're a fan of a more complex red wine or game/red meats, this one is perfect for you. Tasty and tangy with cherry aromas, this one is a staple for your kitchen wine rack.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This wine was an excellent dinner guest. I didn't want him/her to leave! Smooth, dark and brooding with lots of characteristic dried fruit, raisin, figs, cocoa and alcohol. A kicker at 14%. Cherry cough syrup and plum finish with some drying tannin. Game and roasted red meats. Hard and salty Italian cheeses would pair as well.
Nina rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Veneto, Italy.
Deep ruby color.
On the nose first alcohol, wine needs to breath, to aerate. Opens to lots of oak, licorice, some cooked fruit, coffee, black pepper.
On the palate dry, very smooth tannins and refreshing acidity. Rich, with flavours of spices, cherries, nuts, candied fruit.
Lingering fruity finish.
Ripassa is a full and generous wine packed tight with ripe fruit, spice and tobacco aromas. It imparts a rich, smooth feel with lingering notes of cinnamon and cherry on the finish. Score: 89 Source: Monica Larner, Wine Enthusiast
