Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

I always love trying wines from Township 7 and this is no exception. This is a lovely and flavourful wine perfect for a late summer BBQ. Aromas of black cherry, raspberry and cassis, with notes of cedar, mocha, some dried herbal notes and a touch of minerality. Full bodied, with soft tannins and bright acidity, lovely rich dark fruit on the palate, with some herbal, woodsy tones and just the slightest hint of vanilla on the finish. Enjoy with grilled steak or pork.
Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

From Township 7 Estate Winery’s Provenance Series, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is one smooth, dangerously drinkable Cab. Savoury on the nose with ripe dark fruits, cassis, dark cherry and dried savoury herb aromas, the wine is dry, medium-plus-bodied and sultry smooth mirroring same on the palate with well-integrated oak spice and a lingering soft chocolate and vanilla finish. Waaaay too yummy!

Most of the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this vintage were sourced from the winery’s Raju Vineyard in Osoyoos with the balance from the Blue Terrace Vineyard in Oliver. The southerly location (close to the US border) provides the heat units to completely ripen the grapes. “A 21-day maceration period with varied cap management promoted rich fruit and tannin extraction. Gentle pressing and subsequent malo-lactic fermentation in French and American oak barrels enhanced the wine.” and giving it a rounded and full mouthfeel. Very nicely done and drinking beautifully now.

“The 2019 vintage was similar to recent years in growing degree days (GDD) but felt cooler as much of the warmth came earlier in the season. Overall, the 2019 vintage was a moderately cool vintage with wines showing juicy and vibrant fruit, crisp acidity, moderate alcohol levels and ripe tannins in the red wines.” Tasted November 2022.
