From the Stags Leap District in the Napa Valley this is the quintessential California Cab, elegant, powerful and with great finesse and layers of blackberry, cassis, cedar spice, grilled herbs, dark olives and chocolate flavours on the palate. Tannins are firm, but manageable. Stags' Leap is one of California's oldest wineries. Winemaking began here in 1893, and through Prohibition and California's quality winemaking boom of the 1970s.

Reviews and Ratings

Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A bold Napa Cab that is all set to age beautifully. Inky dark in colour with blackberry and licorice on the nose. Ripe tannins with a capsicum and mint finish on the palate. Try it with shallots stuffed with lamb, cinnamon and pine nuts. @wrightwineblog
Stags' Leap Winery The Leap 2016 is a powerful and complex Cabernet Sauvignon. This full-bodied red does not disappoint with its elegant and mouth-filling layers of ripe blackberry, ripe cassis, cedar spice, grilled herbs and dark chocolate flavours on the palate. Tannins are structured. Stags' Leap Winery was founded in 1893. The Cabernet Sauvignon wine grapes for the Leap were sourced from vines averaging 25 years of age in the winery's estate vineyards. Pair with dated night and a grilled steak. - Community Wine Reviews
