Incredibly rich, full-bodied, concentrated and delicious! This is old vine Californian Zinfandel at its best. Pair with cured meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This deep rich inky Zinfandel has a rich generous bouquet featuring lots of dark fruit. Dark plum, dark cherry, prune and dark chocolate is featured with blackberry, blackcurrant and vanilla and sweet spices. Rich ripe strawberry jammy notes well enveloped acidity balanced with a voluptuous full body and long finish with warmth at the end. A great pairing for pulled pork and steak. 90 points November 2017
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Ravenswood have a particular reputation for high quality, good value Zinfandel. This one comes from what is probably their best known labels, Teldeschi Zin from the Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma. This is one of those areas that is so picturesque, it belongs on a postcard. Wild mustard covers whole fields around gnarled old Zin vines.
The Teldeschi is a lustrous ruby, with delicate purple hues.
Aromatically, there is some nice cool climate character here. Espresso, lilac, lavender, raisin, blackberry, currant, chocolate, and Christmas pudding.
Surprising acodity and relatively balanced alcohol. Lip-staining richness. Fruit and spice woven together into a delicious wine for aged t-bones. Smoke, vanilla, coffee, but also brambley red and black fruit. Great finish too. Cellar this for 5-7 years, maybe.
The Dry Creek Valley (Rockpile AVA) region might be new world, but they've been making good wine for a century and a half. They're the old new world.
Ravenswood Teldeschi (2013) is a single-vineyard, full-bodied mostly Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County. Wow, this is rich, concentrated and intense. Who knew a Zin could be this way. Love it! Grapes for this Zinfandel came from old vines planted between 1900 and 1910 on red, iron-rich gravelly loam soils. The actual red wine blend is 80% Zinfandel, 11% Petite Sirah, 7% Alicante bouchet and 2% Carignan. Drink now or hold for five years. - Community Wine Reviews
