Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

From Terra Alta D.O. in Catalunya, Spain, a 60% Garnacha, 20% Carinera, 10% Syrah, 10% Merlot blend from low-yield vines. Very aromatic with ripe dark berries, vanilla and leather, opening into a delicious palate with concentrated fruit flavours, vanilla, sweet spice and sweet tobacco. Very smooth and sensual, with lingering finish. A great Valentine's wine.
Tasted Feb. 2017
This robust Spanish red wine is a blend of 60% Garnacha (Grenache), 20% Carinena (Carignan), 10% Merlot and 10% Syrah grapes. The 2013 vintage of Portal Tinto was matured for 1 year in mostly French barrels, with some American oak. The vines are planted at 1,168 feet above sea level in northeastern Spain near Priorat in calcareous clay soils. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
