A delicious, full-bodied red at a great price. Lots of complexity and richness here with aromas of black plum and blackberry. A nice long finish. Primitivo from Italy, like this one, and Zinfandel from California are the same grapes. Pair with meat lovers' pizza or hamburgers.

Primitivo food pairings: cheese pizza, hard cheeses, roast leg of veal.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Ripe red fruit and leather on the nose. Palate gives lots of ripe plummy fruit, touches of vanilla, leather, slight spice and salinity. Full-bodied with great acidity; would be perfect with Prosciutto and olives.
A racy, spicy Italian red wine made from Primitivo grapes. Primitivo and California Zinfandel have been proven scientifically to be genetically identical. The heart of Primitivo production is in the southern Italian region of Puglia in the southeast corner of Italy's "boot" which has a Mediterranean climate and cool ocean breezes. - Community Wine Reviews
