A great value rustic Rioja produced from 100% estate-grown Tempranillo. Look for ripe black cherry, dark plum, blackberry, cracked pepper, meaty and smoky flavours on the palate. Finishes long and smooth with rich dark berry flavours on the palate. Good now, better in 2021.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The Lealtanza Crianza 2016, from the Rioja valley of Spain, shows aromas of dried blackberry, dried blueberry, dried rose, wet gravel, tobacco, cinnamon and oak. Mainly made from Tempranillo, this wine is medium-bodied, balanced and exposes delicious layers of fruit. The finish is round and fruity, perfect for any occasion. Palate: sour cherry, raisin, dried leaves, black pepper, cigar box, dark chocolate and oak. Enjoy!
Produced by Boedgas Altanzas, Lealtanza 2016 Crianza is an excellent-value, full-bodied Tempranillo from the Rioja wine region. The grapes for this wine are all grown on the winery's estate. Mouth-watering and juicy with black cherry, cigar box, cracked pepper, liquorice, leather and smoky flavours on the palate. Aged for 1 year in oak barrels. Easy to enjoy, but decant one hour prior to pouring with grilled beef long ribs and game burgers. - Community Wine Reviews
