Natalie's Score: 88/100

Very sweet with chocolate notes on the nose and palate from lavish oak aging. Sweet blackberry notes with candied spices on the finish. OTHER: The power of smoky oak shows strongly on this wine. Black-cherry fruit aromas are woven in with caramel, fudge, vanilla and cappuccino scents. A strong tannic structure frames the palate, with juicy black-cherry and blueberry flavors enhanced with milk chocolate and more caramel. Drink 2017-2033. - Community Wine Reviews

Petite Sirah food pairings: roast beef, rare grilled New York striploin, dry-rub marinated flat iron steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Opaque dark purple with juicy aromas of blueberry pie and vanilla. Blueberry pie, cloves, dark chocolate with hint of white pepper on palate and satiny mouthfeel. Would be delicious with game, or grilled lamb chops.
Tasted April 2017
This is a Petite Sirah red wine from Paso Robles, California. J Lohr's Tower Road (2013) is smoky black cherries on the nose and palate. This is a full-bodied oaked red looking for a slow-cooked beef brisket. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
