From Saint Ferréol, Rhône wine region, Gabriel Meffre 2020 Tavel is a full-bodied, vegan-friendly bright and savoury rosé. Lots going on here with aromas of wild herbs, thyme, bright cherry, raspberry and spicy flavours on the palate. The rosé is Grenache-dominant blended with Syrah and Cinsault showing red berry fruit, cherry, melon, orange zest and fine herb flavours balanced with brilliant acidity for food. Pour with a grilled pork tenderloin or grilled Andouille sausage.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Just get me a shirt that says "I heart Tavel" because I think it's such a wonderful style of wine and this is no exception! Aromas of cherry, raspberry, and melon along with some fresh herbal hints and a hint of orange blossom. Medium+ bodied on the palate, smooth and creamy on the palate, with robust and ripe cherry hints with more melon and herbal notes, and a slight minerality on the finish. Enjoyable to sit on its own, but also lovely with a variety of foods, such as pork, salmon, chicken or vegetarian dishes. This wine is vegan friendly.
Trent Mayers rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

If you find most Rose light bodied for your liking, you need to try Tavel. These vineyards on the west side of the Rhone River produce Roses that are full bodied and age worthy. Darker pink than most, it shows ripe cherry jam, strawberry, red plum, red delicious apple, and lemon. It’s mouth filling, dry, and excellent quality. This is a Rose that will stand up to your full flavoured mains from the BBQ. Try it with Italian sausage, pork chops, and/or grilled eggplant.
