Very mature with lots of acidity and chalky tannin. Tanned leather and dried herbs on the nose and palate. Decant 2 hours and pair with a rare steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Simon Chen rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

I visited the winery in my trip to Brunello a couple months ago. Their brunellos are known to be powerful yet not over woody and tannic. This 12' brunello is muted and tough upon opening. Let is breath for 1+ hour before taking your first sip. The structure will become more rounded and the beautiful red fruits will start to come forward. It is definitely a wine that can go for 10+ years. The winery also has the most complete 'old' vintage collections that are available to purchase in the entire Brunello region
Tuscany wine region Col d'Orcia (2012) is a full-bodied and meaty Brunello di Montalcino with great acidity to food. Col d’Orcia literally means the hill overlooking the Orcia River. The Orcia River marks the South West border of the Brunello di Montalcino territory located at the very edges of the Brunello di Montalcino geographical limits. It is the largest organic farm in Tuscany. - Community Wine Reviews
