From the southwest of France, a well-crafted blend of 55% Négrette, 20% Syrah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. The Négrette wine grape appeared in the 12th century and was named "Mavro" (black) originally brought in from Cyprus by the Knights of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. Grapes are vinified separately and aged in large oak vats two years prior to bottling. This vintage is spicy and concentrated with dark plum, smoky earthy dried herbs and vibrant acidity for food.

Reviews and Ratings

Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Always interesting to try odd grape varieties - this wine made from mostly Negrette, plus some Syrah, Cab Sauv, Cab Franc. Full-on black cherry, plum, savoury and a bit stemmy with grainy tannins in a nice rustic way. Too polished and it would be phoney. Great with juicy lamb or beef burgers. Tasted Sept 2020.
Château Bellevue La Forêt 2018 is a full-bodied, smoky and spicy red wine blend from Southwest France with more than half of the wine composed from the Negrette wine grape for which this wine region is known. Philippe Grant has been the owner of Château Bellevue La Forêt vineyard since 2008. Look for dark plum, cherry, savoury herbs, concentrated raspberry and strawberry flavours finishing spicy and smoky on the palate. Decant two hours prior to pouring with grilled beef ribs or hold in cellar for two years and try in 2022. - Community Wine Reviews
